Hi,
Am trying to figure out a well balanced diet for Ponyo. He has always had raw although in the beginning he also had dry food which I relied on for covering all the nutritional needs, no stress. Then his Ostheopath told me that I can’t mix raw with dry because the acids used to digest raw create havoc when they meet the dry food (gas) and in fact, he did have a lot of gas. Since then, he has only had raw but I am very anxious about the nutrients.
I don’t believe in adding supplements unless impossible to get from food which it shouldn’t theoretically be.
What I’d like to find are some more or less exact weights of what he should have every day.
Bones, organs, meat, fish.
Have done a lot of searching but I can’t find this information.
Right now I am feeding at each meal divided like this: half whole quail (he crunches down the bones), half an equal mixture of liver, heart, kidney (from rabbit, veal, or cow, does it matter where it comes from?) and about 3 tablespoons of bone broth. He has given up entirely eating fish, so will now add 1/2 teaspoon of salmon oil a day.
Is this OK? Am I missing anything?
He does seem to not go N°2 very often though. Is it ok to add ground sesame seeds daily to help?
And, he hardly ever drinks water anymore. Is this OK? His paw skin looks a little dry to me, though his coat looks good.
Has anyone experienced giving their cat a quail with the feathers still on? I read somewhere that the neck bones can be risky.
Thanks for any help!
