Yesterday, I got bored and was watching My Cat From Hell... there was a cat that kept getting in the xmas tree. Jackson had them change from a real tree to a fake one and that was enough to get their cat to leave the tree alone. Not sure if anyone else has tried this with success....

Our tree is a fake fiber optic and Shango only leaves it alone because I'm standing right next to him telling him no, no bite the tree lol! Apparently fake trees don't bother all cats. Then again, it's the fiber optic lights & ornaments that Shango goes for.

Fake tree was just as tempting to the cats over here. We replaced all my beautiful decorations with the shatterproof kind, eliminated anything tinsel-related, tied the tree to the ceiling and surrounded the entire thing with the Scat cans. We only had the tree plugged in when we were in the room. That prevented the cats from climbing the bottom of the tree and getting electrocuted from chewing the wires for the lights. It did not prevent an ambitious savannah cat from running across the room, leaping and tackling the tree at mid-height. Sigh. We will not be home for a week at Christmas time so we will not have a tree up this year.

He still hasn't knocked it over, or knocked ornaments off, which surprises me a lot. My tree is fake and he tries to chew on it but mostly he likes to hide underneath it. Presents won't go under it until Christmas morning because paper and bows are just too tempting.

Yeah....don't even get me started on what they do to ribbons and bows!
