Today wasn't so great he didn't want to eat anything. I guess the nausea meds are wearing off A little Watered down tuna juice was all I could get him to do. I hope this test comes back tomorrow so we can start a plan Of some sort. He was active and social today but it's not like him to refuse food expecially a treat treat! I have been testing the skin for dehydration and it had improved from the vet visit-

I highly doubt a fecal is going to show anything. this cat needs some serious testing done...I would not continue to wait! I would let the vet know he is not doing well and demand the testing or find a different vet.

Fecal was negative- going to try to get him in tomorrow for more testing- just want to make sure we can do everything while he is sedated
oddly but luckily he ate extremely well today and was very playful -

Update on Mungus- So we took him to cardiologist and he has mild Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy -but the cardiologist was concerned with such ranges in his blood and had us speak with Oncologist - they did an Ultra sound and found mass on spleen and pancreas - they took biopsys and it was not cancer - now they think its FIP - but they are not sure - more tests? He is too stressed out - he keeps having twitchiness and he is aggravated with his tail - continuously licking tail and butt - so we have decided to stop the testing for a while - and see how he does - the last 2 days have been much better - he is twitching less everyday - we took him outside for the last 2 days and he has been more his normal self - playing and eating well - he still gets the twitch a few times a day and runs back to our closet where he had confined himself since the start of all this - but he comes out more and more each day - I know something is going on inside him but I feel like we put him thru too much with the numerous vet visits and they can't manage him well and have sedated him 2 x's already- As of now He is eating, using litter box regularly, no vomit, no diarrhea, no fever - I pray its not FIP!!! Has anyone had an issue with the odd behavior of twitching, itchy feeling excessive licking? It all started the night we brought him home and they had put him in a clear glass type box and used gas to sedate him so they could take X-rays - I think it was traumatizing for him - but then again when the twitching starts out of nowhere I think its something he is maybe feeling inside - We have seen 2 regular vets a cardiologist and oncologist and so far I can't get any definite answers- its very frustrating

Hi Cathy. What you are describing is Feline hyperesthesia syndrome (FHS). It can be caused by a number of things.....anything from allergies, fleas, bacterial or yeast infection, bladder disease and/or anxiety.

I had this issue with Rafiki last year. The cause was Mycoplasma bacteria and it attacked her liver and caused fibrosis for several months until we were able to determine the cause. In her case, the infection did not present in the normal way (nose/eyes/lungs) so it went untreated until a massive flair-up in her ears. A strong antibiotic combined with steroid did the trick. She just had what appears to be a second incident last week - flapping her ears and twitchy skin while eating and we are treating it the same as before.

Hang in there and be strong. I know first hand how scary this can be. Rafiki was also tested for cancer several times last year. Hopefully the twitching is anxiety-driven or caused by something treatable. Prayers and hugs to you!

That sounds exactly like what he is having - and we have added more playtime and he seems to have it less frequently -The last 3 days have been much better - he still has bouts but they are less frequent and shorter in length and he comes out of it sooner. The Dr gave me a prescription for Pentoxifilyn that she wanted me to try ?? Has anyone had any experience with this med? She said it could cause labored breathing and to watch for signs - I have not started it yet - it is suppose to deliver from compound Pharm on Monday - but not sure now if this is what he needs - I will have to research this med - We also did not want any meds that will cause more damage to the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy - as we have not started meds for that until he stabilizes from the other issues.

The twitching began very recently and seems to be decreasing, right? Is he scratching/chewing to the point of causing any injury? What you described may be caused by anxiety of what he has been thru. I might be tempted to wait it out for a few days if he does not have any raw areas.
