Oh and junk food. Jarvis really likes snack chips
In all seriousness, if your kitty isn't adjusting well, and isn't meeting your expectations, just give it some time. . . And I mean a few years. Love the kitty for who the kitty is, and one day, you may wake up and find out that the kitty you were hoping for is right there, purring as he lays in your arms, under the covers, in bed, and bitches you out when you get out of bed.
It happened for us. Go slow, take your time, and let the kitty tell you what he or she is ready for, when. Just give yourself and the kitty a break, and stop expecting "progress" every day. They move at their own pace. And when they are both happy and secure, it's warp speed.
Hang in there. And if your kitty loves Cheetos, be an enabler. Just not around the white linens
And fwiw, if the kitty likes steak, or tuna, or anything that is moderately healthy, share. All will be fine.
Xoxox,
Jarvis and Nikki
