Savannah kitten behavior

IF they were not held accountable for anything then TICA is basically useless.
TICA is a genetic registry, it does not, nor will it ever, dictate how individual breeders operate or raise (socialize) kittens.
There are guidelines and such breeders have to follow, otherwise we can all become breeders.
Not sure what guidelines you are referring to, but anyone can become a breeder if they so desire, which is why there is such an abundance of backyard breeders :(
I dont want nor does Mary want anyone to get offended or defensive by the questions.
I doubt anyone would be offended by your questions, I just hope you (and Mary) don't have unrealistic expectations about what TICA will do in this situation. I would be happy to discuss her situation with her privately and review the TICA rules with her to see if she has a case (I am on the TICA Rules Committee so fairly well versed in their rules) - if she would like assistance with filing her complaint you can have her email me directly at patti@jasirisana.com

Its not my cat. its her decision. I was just asking questions on her behalf. What she chooses to do is her decision in the end. I have no expectation one way or the other. Ill definitely give her your information, and she can get in touch with you. Thank you Patti

Is Mary willing to join the forum, and share her dilemma and concerns about Athena herself?

I also agree that Mary should seriously consider contacting Marilyn Krieger, the Cat Coach, for advice as well.

Time for an update.

For anyone who has a SV who is not adjusting well, take a deep breath. Jarvis has been with us for just slightly more than 3 years, and he has come a long way.

As I write this, he is lying on the ottoman next to my feet, purring.

He spent last night in bed with us, under the covers, this morning following us and our house guests around complaining that he was not getting our attention, and this evening begging for snuggles.

Sometimes a kitty just needs time :)

Oh and junk food. Jarvis really likes snack chips :)

In all seriousness, if your kitty isn't adjusting well, and isn't meeting your expectations, just give it some time. . . And I mean a few years. Love the kitty for who the kitty is, and one day, you may wake up and find out that the kitty you were hoping for is right there, purring as he lays in your arms, under the covers, in bed, and bitches you out when you get out of bed.

It happened for us. Go slow, take your time, and let the kitty tell you what he or she is ready for, when. Just give yourself and the kitty a break, and stop expecting "progress" every day. They move at their own pace. And when they are both happy and secure, it's warp speed.

Hang in there. And if your kitty loves Cheetos, be an enabler. Just not around the white linens ;)

And fwiw, if the kitty likes steak, or tuna, or anything that is moderately healthy, share. All will be fine.

Xoxox,

Jarvis and Nikki

Nikki. What you say give me hope for Azidi. She IS progressing, but at a snail's pace. I will take what you say and run with it.
Thank you. :)

Hang in there, Cary.
I've dealt with abused dogs, and abused parrots, and feral kittens, but never an animal that made me work so hard for trust. . . Until i met Jarvis. Hang in there. She will figure it out. It may take several years, but when it clicks, it will really be worth it.

On Friday night, we had 15+ people in the house (friend was getting married on Saturday), and out of the blue, Jarvis jumps on my shoulders. He had never, EVER, done that before. I got 2 quick head butts, and he jumped down, not to be seen again for several hours. But he has finally figured it out. And all the sudden, he is not just friendly, he is cuddly. It is confusing in a really wonderful way. It is upsetting the dynamic at 1104 Barton in a really interesting way. We now have 2 human laps and three cats who want one. . .

Heh heh Good on you!! That is great. Jarvis finally realized you are LOVE incarnate. Things will never be the same. LOL

Oh and that would be a great pict. You with Jarvis on your shoulders. ;)

What is it about chips? I also won over a very shy girl by the power of potato chips - amazing!

However, your story of Jarvis' journey of bonding is an amazing one - I am so happy for you, and especially for Jarvis as he so deserves all the love and devotion you can give him, and it sounds as though he is finally ready to accept it!
