Savannah kitten diet

All three of ours ate as much as they wanted and were still mostly skinny until they were over a year old. I say mostly because they’d bulk up right before a big growth spurt. :roflmao:

Another easy way to add fat is to use a skin-on duck breast in your mix, if you can get that locally. Lamb is also very fatty, if they like the flavor.

If you do use pork, make sure you buy stuff labeled at least ‘natural’, as the factory farmed meat is treated with a nitrate solution that no creature should be ingesting. Same thing with turkey.

Yes sorry I didn’t mention the additives as I assume someone feeding homemade raw already knows that. But definitely no artificial flavors or additives, and also sodium content of less than 100mg per 4 Oz serving. I have no issues finding that with pork around here, but unfortunately have never found duck without way too much already added.

It’s something I make a point to bring up because we humans shouldn’t be eating that stuff, either, and many of the folks I’ve met through the store who feed homemade cooked or raw have no idea it’s even there.

So, as my girl Tillie who passed away used to do, Olive puked up the store bought beef mix. I swear the batches you buy in stores are mediocre at best, and how could you mass produce a raw meat mix and not have it thaw and refreeze and thaw and refreeze over and over!? Olive was such a sweet dear tho and puked in her litter box! I’ve never heard of a cat doing that!? I might have been worried it was a different liquid in her litter box, but I watched it happen. Poor baby.

I think I did get the ground pork with that stuff in it and she didn’t care for it.

This morning I made a mix of chicken thighs, chicken breast, 2 eggs, gizzards, hearts, liver, pumpkin, and mazuri slab mix. I’m kicking myself for adding the pumpkin. I’m not sure if she likes it. If not this will have been a 2 and a half hour, 7lb learning experience.

I need to remind myself to enjoy this process of discovery with a new cat lol. When they get older you have their systems down and stream lined lol.

And she whacked her head on a failed leap in the closet oy vey

Many cats do not tolerate beef...some of mine do and some don't. I would forgo it.
