Hi to everyone my name is Lesley, I live in Scotland UK, and I'm a recently new Savannah mummy to our not so little F4 Vito .(nearly 6kg, leggy, tall and lean) and only 8 months old. He is such a character and always up to mischief, forever involving himself in whatever we're doing, including joining us in the shower.
I have worked within the Cat Welfare sector for many years now, in a veterinary capacity, having also done lots of voluntary work.
We done lots of research before acquiring our little monster, aka Monkey, before finally taking the plunge. The information we found on Sav cat chat has been amazing, with so much help on many topics, from other owners and expert breeders, you guys have been so valuable in helping and advising on many issues.
Vito is totally the center of mine and hubby's lives, and he has very quickly molded us into his servants, constantly keeping us entertained with his antics. He is such an intelligent young boy, and never ceases to amaze us with his clever ways. We decided to raw feed and the help and information on this topic has been so helpful. We are just 5months into our journey with Vito, and are hoping we share many happy years together. Here are some photos of Vito.

Welcome, Lesley and Vito!

Exactly as you say, Savannahs keep us well entertained but do train us to serving their needs as well :)

Hi everyone, not sure if I'm posting this in the correct section, I'm pretty new at this, so here goes.
Was just wondering if you could possibly give me your thoughts and perhaps experience of vaccinations.
Vito of course received his kitten vaccines a good few months ago, however after the first part of the course he developed a rather large marble sized lump which took 3 weeks to disappear, so when he was due his second part of the course, I asked the vet to give him the jab in the leg, which she did, with no bad reaction. I have since changed my vet as didn't like the way she handled him, nor the 6 attempts of trying to give him the second injection, which caused him a lot of stress.
I have since found an excellent vet who has lots of experience with hybrids, I raised my concerns about the worry of injection site carcinomas, his advice was to vaccinate every 3years.
Now having worked as a vet nurse for many years, it was always drummed into us that vaccines should be given yearly (booster) .
Vito is predominantly an indoor cat, however he does like his time in the garden and also his walks outside on his harness. How safe is it really if he was only vaccinated every 3years whilst still going outside. (he doesn't come into any direct contact with any cats)
Hubby and I are at loggerheads over the topic, we do have 4 months until he hits a year old, vaccinate or not to vaccinate, that is the question.
Would really appreciate your input.

The standard recommendation for pet cats is to vaccinate every three years after the first year booster - so he should get vaccinated when he turns one (or some people say one year after his last vaccine) then every three years after that.
