sbt kitten versus the average cat

Nonstandards are going to be priced lower...

You'd be surprised what some breeders think about ages, that is definitely old enough that some breeders would be trying to get them out the door. Me, I don't even normally talk to people about a specific kitten until at least 8 weeks old... but I know that is not usual. I prefer to wait and evaluate... if I only sold pet kittens then this would not be as important, generally I am evaluating for show and breeder quality.

you have good standards. If I was a breeder I would do the same. the only time rushing to sell a litter would make sense is if it were a normal cat breed. Non show. very common the type of cat most people know what to expect. Savannah's have this aura about them. They are a piece of natures art. I completely agree with you. By the way.. I would like to see your site for your cattery. what's the name again?

View attachment 11445 View attachment 11447 thanks! I don't see too much on sbt cats when you look up Savannah's it's always the f1-f4 you see and not much else. so it was a little discouraging. But I love hearing that. I was always a dog person growing up because the cats that I've met we're I guess "catty " was the best term. Then I met a savannah cat at a family members house in pa. And fell in love. the first cat that made me want to get a cat in the worst way. from what you guys are describing it sounds like the sbts may even be the better generations. At least for keeping myself busy and having plenty to keep up with. I want a high energy high maintained kitty. I'll tire em out =]. I'm not looking for a fashion statement Im looking for a best friend. And Kristen I'm so sorry to hear that my condolences. I completely agree its all up to personality and If I went to a breeder out of state I would want them to get to know me well enough to help male the right decision. Or personally I would prefer to meet the kitten in person even if I had to make a special trip. It would all be worth it in the end. I know I can't predict it's up to fate to match me up. And my Flemmy is a lazy boy he's not very big. The chinchilla genes took over. I think if I get a kitten they will hopefully be ok with each other or else I will have to do play shifts again like before I had both bunnies fixed., that was a rough 6 months but you'll do anything for those ya love

Hi Bekki:

I just got my SBT F6 blue Savannah male Dec. 29th. He's is gorgeous. I have four domestics and they just love him. He is quite different than the domestics, though. My breeder said he's a big boy and he probably will be. He just turned 8 months now and he's already 8 pounds. He's bigger than two of my domestics already. He is into everything, very high energy, ambushes me, trips me, helps me do everything in the kitchen and talk, talk, talk. Oh my God, can he talk. He is jealous and demanding of my time and really wants nothing to do with my husband (lol). Because he's still a kitty he sleeps a lot during the day and is up late. It took him 2 days to learn his name, he was quanrantined only 4 days, it took him about 6 days to learn the word "no" when he's doing something bad. He gets along with my two Dobermans and my domestics. I love him to death. He's bonded to me totally which is what I wanted as my husband is the "cat person" of the house. So I'd say SBT's might be something to consider. Also, my breeder breeds high percentages in all generations so he may be more Serval than I think [because he acts like a wild animal...lol]. Hope this helps.

It does and I have definitely been comparing sbt stories. It's not so disappointing anymore about my states laws. It may have pushed me in the right direction after all.

I am the same way and don't take deposits until at least 8 weeks...however, I don't believe in pricing Savannahs that have non permissible coats lower than any other Savannah...they are still Savannahs and I would sell them for price of a pet Savannah.

I don't see why marbled Savannah's are frowned upon. Some non standards are simply gorgeous. And I would almost pay extra to get some of those colors. with the savannah body type they look so striking
