Serval Breeders

Ok I am going make this thread a zombie.

On the list you gave of serval breeders do
you have any that west west coast?

I was thinking more in Washington State.
I don't want to drive a long ways or have to fly.
This is just investigational at this point in time.

This is what I get for going and visiting with Bella's father.
Max the Serval. What a nice boy.

Sean where do you live? And you need to do a lot more research and thinking before you get a Serval.

Washington State. That is why I asked about any in Washington.
NOT in Seattle.
We are south of that mess and in an area
that allows both the Serval and Savannah.

I would not purchase from EK EXOTICS! There are a few good Serval breeders, but unless you are prepared for a Serval, I would stick to a Savannah.

This is part of the process of even thinking of doing this.
I really need to know what I am getting into if I do.

Before I even got my first Savannah I did a lot of research
and will do that again and who knows it may be a no go.
I will also work with the breeder that Bella came from and
do some talking with my vet. he works a lot with the exotics.
At this point it won't be a breeder so altered will be the plan.

The I also have to understand what laws and insurances I need
to deal with and just how they apply to my case.

Thanks for the link to that document. I know what I'll be reading tonight.

Sounds like you are going in the right direction with doing lots of research first. I spent over a year researching and thinking about getting a Serval, but in the end I made the choice best for the animal and myself long term and opted for a HP Savannah. After surviving the 1st year with Shango, I am sooo glad I didn't end up getting a Serval

Honestly, I don't think you could even attempt to keep an unaltered Serval as a pet inside your home. The smell would be horrific. Even altered Servals tend to spray.

I have been around a breeding serval and they smell less nasty that
the trash can I use to hole the cat litter till it loaded into the trash
to go out. I put it in a bag then transfer the bag out to the trash.

That stuff will clear you sinuses out fast and make your eyes water.

The serval's run was not near s bad. Less ammonia and more of a
musk smell but still very strong.

That is much different than living with a serval.
