So I just thoght of a couple more questions, and your advice would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding was that it was a pretty stressfull morning for both the boys this morning. Abu went nuts according to my son looking for his Zues, I guess he spent the whole time we were gone wandering the house and calling for Zeus (yowling was the word my son used). Is there any way to help this seperation anxiety>
Next, While at the vet Zeus was not happy in the carrier. In fact he got down right mad, you could hear it in his voice and the way he was making the whole carrier bounce around, (I couldn't get him to settle down much). I'm having a couple of harnesses made for the boys, and I would imagine that they would be a less stressful solution versus carriers, except they don't provide a place to hide from other animals. I think I will take both the harness and the carrier next time. Please share your experiencie with either.
Finally, Abu doesn't like to be held at all ... not a bit. And believe me I know how fast and effective his claws are. I'm taking Abu into the vet in a couple of weeks just to introduce him to the vet get an overall assesment how he is doing etc.
I would really prefer that the vet not be maimed (I use this word jokingly, please don't make it more than it is
) by Abu's visit. Any thoughts here would be appreciated as well. I've been trying to work on getting Abu to be comfortable being held, but I think some cats just don't go for that. Don't get me wrong, he like to cuddle with people, and does so everyday, he just doesn't like to be picked up, or have his movement confined in any way. (I don't blame him).

Last things first: do not worry about the vet, give warning and let them go at it. It usually works out, most cats give ample warning, and no cat I know of has escaped (examination and treatment) because of that.
Carrier misbehaviour is normal, how long it goes on is partly based on your behaviour, the cat senses your reactions and uses them mercilessly: "If I yowl they will at least talk to me, if I scratch they have let me out before..."
Washing a pooped carrier? Soap and water, steam cleaning, and let it dry in the sun (if you have any, we don´t). that will remove smelliness.
ID chip: You had the vet give a rabies shot without ID-ing the cat first? That invalidates the rabies shot! First chip, then rabies. And don´t try to inject it yourself, this is the cat´s official ID.
About the other vaccines: follow your vet´s advice, but ask how many cats with leukemia he´s seen tha last year...

I wish I had known that before, I'm not sure how invalidates. So what are my options from here? I certainly don't want to wait a year to chip them, and get another rabies shot? Is that good for the Zeus? I really appreciate your advice, TYVM

I trim all of my cats nails every 2 weeks which eliminates anyone getting scratched and certainly make sure nails are trimmed before a vet visit. Just gets the cats used to it and keeps everything and everyone safe.
I would not want to microchip myself........pretty big needle....I give vaccines myself but the vet can do the chipping ....I am charged 55.00 per cat to chip so 16.50 is a very good price.
I would set a crate or crates around your house and put a nice kitty bed in them and always leave the doors open. That gets any cat used to being in a carrier so they are not stressed when taken to the vet. Good idea to also get them harness trained as at the vets on the table with a harness on you have full control.

That isn't really the case stateside, rob. I kinda think this vet is a bit greedy to want seventeen bucks if you walk in with the chips yourself. Well, maybe for Abu if he is being such a butt about being held!

Any official documentation when it comes to vaccines like rabies and such is only valid if the Id of the animal is known at the time of vaccination. I e: First chip, then read chip and vaccinate. The chip date must precede the vaccination date. But the vaccine works anyway!I wish I had known that before, I'm not sure how invalidates. So what are my options from here? I certainly don't want to wait a year to chip them, and get another rabies shot? Is that good for the Zeus? I really appreciate your advice, TYVM
We actually have problems with the ID and vaccine date on certificates coming from the US because vaccination predates chipping/ID.

We had our f2 azul given the felv vaccine out of complete paranoia since we had a potential case of it, (long long story) turns out tests were false positives and things are fine, but what research I did I found out that the felv vaccine isn't Important and could potentially turn out to be a bad thing. We actually refused the booster for it, hopefully I'm not too off subject but I figured id throw in my tid bid of expirence in reference to the felv vaccine.
