Are we being paranoid maybe? But we've been looking into GPS tracking if the worse ever happens and our new Leto gets out of the house or somehow escapes from future walks. We haven't even picked him up yet and we're trying to think of everything. We'd like him to be a walking kitty at some point, plenty of dog on leash walking areas here. Still a bit worried and may get some mace for the worse case scenario of a unleashed large dog.

Anyway, we are thinking of attaching this device to his walking jacket/s and to his collar when/if traveling.

Not a bad monthly cost and piece of mind. Just wondering if anyone has experience with these? And your thoughts are very much welcomed! We're like new partners... paranoid and trying to cover all bases! LOL

The problem is that they are on a collar that can break off. Cats shouldn't be on non-breakaway collar so to have one, means a compromise. I think just having a collar with a tag would save them if they stray. I know it would have saved one of mine!
The tag system would have been a ideal. So you would have to decide if having a non-break-away collar. As with horses, I wonder if a non break away collar made of a material that will break if really tangled would be the ticket. The odds that something horrible would happen to them are greater than the odds that they would get their collar tangled is something- you would have to weigh that consequence in your own mind.
Is it worth it? Maybe?
As I was just through this, I would prefer the collar and tracking system to losing my cat forever.

Yea, I was think of sewing the optional zipper pouch to his walking jacket so it wouldn't be around their neck. And only on when going out. We have to see if he's a door dasher.

Yeah, mine wasn't a door dasher either but fate would have it that she escaped through a loose screen. It was a screen in fact that was she even had access to.
If you have him on a harness or jacket under your supervision, I don't see why you would need the tag at all?

True, he certainly would be watched and secured with a good walking jacket and leash. Like I said... paranoid a little! LOL

As a suggestion, it is best to train your cat to respond to their name when called. I can't tell you how many times my cats have dashed out the door into the backyard to see something of interest like chipmunks. But I have them trained to stop and wait for me to pick them up. It drives me nuts, but cats will be cats.

That is awesome that they respond and stop for you! I do need to get some pet proof screens on a few windows that we open. Also looking to get screen doors, something we've been wanting for a while now. Just so when we open the door the second screen door is there. And allows for some nice spring and fall breezes!
