Based on Stormi's design, I started on my own kitty tunnel from a cement form. First of all Stormi - you must have seriously muscular fingers.....cutting this stuff with a box cutter is sheer torture. I greatly simplified my design after the first cut out! And then....I was on the very last cut out when the hubby brought out the jigsaw. Took all of 2 minutes to do the last one......and I had spent over an hour sweating and hacking away at the same design on the other side! The cut was much cleaner as well and required much less sanding. Next I sealed all the edges with gorilla glue as mine will be in the catio. Unfortunately, Rafiki decided to stick one paw into the newly coated cut-out and wound up with a paw full of glue. I washed it the best I could with soap and water (the glue is non-toxic but stickier than sh!t). I also wound up with hands full of glue rescuing her and preventing the stupid tube from being knocked down. For a cat that likes water, she does NOT like having a paw washed! This morning she finished chewing off the remainder that was stuck to the fur between her toes. Not that I think that she learned a lesson in there. Tomorrow I will start spray painting it and decorating it and will finish with a waterproof coating. Not sure if it will be a tunnel or a ramp but either way I need to add a strip of outdoor carpeting on the inside for them to climb/curl up on. Thank you so much for the idea Stormi!
