Teukie- The Kitty Idol

I have some pictures and a video from last night to upload later on tonight. ^-^

Teukie has seemed to become extremely timid again. Before, he would be laying in the chair next to me and I could scratch his had, he'd lean into it, etc. He would let me step right next to him. Now he's back to hiding(not under the bed thankfully).
He still loves playing. We took some yarn and used it to attach a kitty ball with a bell in it to the feather want. He was having just a blast chasing and jumping at it! And of course he still loves the sisal rope on the desk leg.

We've had him on Pine Pellets now. He used them really well.. Then he decided to use the spot in front of my door. It's not a "Oh, I have to poop. NOW." thing. It's... He deliberately walks over there, paws the ground and goes. Now this isn't every single time. And his kitty litter gets cleaned daily. Think I might just need some cat attract?

How many litter boxes do you have for him? If only one, Teukie might be a kitty who likes to have two (or more)...one for poop and one for pee :) If your box (es) are located some distance away...he may truly have to really go and picks the most convenient spot....is the box in a "public" location? He might prefer a box more hidden from view, one with a lid, or without, or one taller and deeper or shallower; clear box or solid colored...depth of the pellets can be important, too. You will need to do a bit of experimenting to see what he prefers and will use consistently. Pick him up calmly and matter of factly, and place him in the litter box if you find him scratching and trying to do his business elsewhere, but do not punish him. Praise him liberally after he has gone in the litter box.

And yes, try adding the Cat or Kitten Attract, either sprinkled liberally on top of his existing litter, or in a box by itself.

I think Cat Attract is a good idea, and Pam has made some great suggestions as well. Just be sure to clean any areas he goes on with a good enzyme cleaner. I'm really at a loss here, he was 100% in the litterbox when he was here.

Again, sorry for late responses. ^^; Have quite a bit going on(bought myself a car!).

He has 1 open, clear sided box. I put some cat attract in with the litter and it worked for 2 days.. Then he went back to the floor. I will be trying a 2nd kitty litter for him today though with just cat attract and see how that goes.

And he is being extremely timid again. I will move my laptop over to the desk where he'll be laying and he will look up and hiss at me and back his face away. I calmly tell him it'll be ok, I'm not going to hurt you.. And set my hand down a bit away from him- he'll stretch his head out some to sniff it and then go back. There are times he'll let me come near him without the hissing, and I'll say "Good boy Teukie" and such to reassure him that I'm not going to hurt him. We also bought some Blue Wilderness treats for when he is acting good to try and teach him that that is good. That we're good.

Aww honey.. I am sorry he is being stubborn. I wish I could make it all better. I am sure he will come around in time. Just be patient with him. And show him that you are good and when he is good he gets love and rewards. He will come around. <3
