He has never been out of our house or ever around another cat. There are no poisons in our house and no chemicals are used.

I do not feel contracts should be mentioned right now as that is not what this thread is about.

Stormi I know I'm probably going to upset you but I hope you consider that my intentions are good and come from a place that wants only good things for you. I've re-read this thread. You mentioned earlier on that you had Teukie treated for fleas and worms. That means he was either exposed to other animals or someone brought the fleas into the house. It happens, they do hitch rides on clothing. There is a parasitic blood borne disease caused from fleas that can be fatal.

So he somehow got fleas and worms and was treated. That also means he could have been exposed to heart worm. That sort of also suggests that the possibility of exposure to other things existed in the house.

You repeatedly state throughout this thread that too many things are going on in your life. You seem to be overwhelmed with demands on your time. You also mentioned that you had to go the cheap route with litter, food, and medical care at certain times due to lack of funds. Time and money are often the root cause of adversity affecting nearly every facet of our lives.

So all of the above does make discussion of the purchase contract relevant. Your own words throughout the thread suggest that it may not have been the right time for you take on a SV. So when your grief abates and it comes time to consider the replacement clause in your contract, give pause and think long and hard about whether another SV is the right thing to do. Sometimes we have to put our wishes and dreams on hold.

The fleas must have hopped on clothes. I get that.

And no, I am not overwhelmed with demands for my time. I work, game and worked with Teuks. If I wasn't working at my job or with him, I was relaxing with my fiance on Skype and found that more important than updating with pictures. I also fixed his litter problems with the Breeze system(2 boxes fixed the issue in a week). His food was not a cheap brand and yes we had to think what we could afford with vets, but we still made sure everything was good.

I already know what my decision is/will be with the contract. I have discussed it with family and will soon be discussing all of this officially with Patti. I may or may not post in the forums that decision. I find that a touchy subject and I don't have the strength to deal with it.

We're currently planting a Blossoming Cherry Tree and burying Teuks with it.

I think we should all remember to be a little more empathetic. Blame isn't going to help anyone.
Stormi, I know you did what you could for Teukie. May the cherry tree be a reminder of the time you had with Teukie and help you get through this difficult time

Remember Stormi, I am there with you. Give him a final goodbye for me. Praying for you and the family.

As Stormi has said, no one is laying blame. We all make decisions every day about how we spend our time, finances, and other life choices, including myself. Stormi loved Teukie, and is grieving his loss. It is possible that Teukie had a congenital condition, it is possible that he was inadvertently exposed to something. It is quite likely that we will never know, and in the end all that really matters is that he is gone...

I have been remiss in updating the findings of Teukie's necropsy. It appears he had renal lymphoma, which is apparently pretty rare in such a young cat. The necropsy results also suggested a systemic infection, but PCRs were not run to identify exactly what kind of infection it was. All in all, it was a heartbreaking situation, but not one that I think anyone could do anything to change. There are some reports that renal lymphoma can be treated with chemotherapy, but from what I could gather it only prolonged life, it did not offer a cure. :(

A prolonged life also does not mean a happy and painless one either.

These past weeks have been ridiculously lonely. I will actually be picking up a kitten not this upcoming week, but the next. She's 4 months old and healthy. She's a beyond beautiful F3C with an amazing personality that will have her own thread here soon.

Hi Stormi. I hope the kitten helps heal your heart. Losing Teukie this way was so horrible.
