I currently have an F3 but am considering getting a later generation for my daughter. How much should I expect to spend?

What do you mean by later? Later gens refer to F4 and later... Meaning F5, F6, etc

Ah ok... It all depends on the breeder... Pricing can be anywhere from $3500 for an F4.... Could be less...$1800 to $2500 for quality F5 and F6s... But it really depends on the breeder and quality of kitten.

What kind of personality changes are typical of the later generations? Will they behave similar to my F3 or more like a typical cat?

In general, you might notice a lesser degree of intensity and persistence in later generations. In general, I don't think very many savannahs are like typical cats due to breeder selection of personality traits that make the breed popular -- high energy and a greater degree of intelligence and bonding with their humans. Those traits don't diminish much in later generations.

I have 4 savannahs -- 2 F2s, an F6 and an F1. The longer I live with them, the less differences I see between them. My F6 at 11 lbs rules over my F1 who is 27 lbs. The F6 and one of my F2s are a bit more stubborn than my F1. The F6 and F1 are equal in energy, sleep in short cycles, and when awake are always getting into things. The 2 F2s have long sleep cycles and short play cycles.

I am my F1s #1 person and he tolerates, to different degrees, my husband and house guests. One F2 is intolerant of most humans, including me. The other F2 and the F6 are snuggle bunnies who like almost everyone they meet.

My F1 is smarter in different ways than my other SVs in that he invents new ways to make me crazy and he is scary smart when it comes to watching how we do things in the house and then attempting to imitate actions he finds fun -- such as turning on faucets and lights, flushing the toilets, and dispensing tons of ice from the dispenser on the fridge. Because of his greater persistence in these things, we have installed child proof locks on the most important things we don't want him having access to. My other cats have done some of the same things when they were younger but as they aged, either forgot how or lost interest.

Hi Luke. I see that you got your Savannah from California. I am from the Los Angeles area and my baby comes from Halestone in Huntington Beach. You might want to contact Mike and Sandy - they breed both Savannahs and Chausies and could tell you what the differences and similarities are. I am pretty sure that one of the reasons I was able to get my girl from them was that one of their Chausies approved me - he spent more than an hour grooming me until I was a slobbered mess!
