They are Friends! But...

It's funny because you even see it with very small kittens...my kittens are now 4 weeks old and they are all play fighting with each other and their mom, Zuri...it is hilarious to watch at this stage because they are so little...and they do learn to back off when bitten but then run right back in and start all over again...so as others have said...unless it is so rough that one cat is terrified of the other or drawing blood, I would let them work it out.

So it's been awhile and for the last week these two have been non stop chasing each other. They walk up to each other and will start tackling and biting. Still not sounds or fluffiness. They are constantly grappling and tumbling...is this still play?

I've only busted up one interaction in the last while because Biz started to growl and I could tell he had enough and Jengo just wasn't getting it. I sprayed them, they separated and then a bit later Biz started up again and Jengo looked at me like he was asking for permission.

I'm just wondering if it's normal for them to play constantly. I mean they just tumble and tumble over each other. They both start it, no one is avoiding the other. They both will randomly smack the other in the face or give a bite. No marks, fur flying or anything, no hissing. They also mutually groom which sometimes starts this behavior. They randomly chase and bounce on each other - it's funny but I want to make sure it's normal. Sometimes when Jengo wants a pet Biz will come over and start with him and he runs away annoyed other times Biz will groom him. They sometimes bump noses then smack each other.

I hope it's all just good fun but I can't believe how much energy they have then.

Honey they are Savannahs. Endless supplies of energy. I would think that as long as no fur is flying or blood is being let then it is just play. The growls are Biz saying "enough" If Jengo keeps it up then Biz will give him the bizness. ;)

Lol! Great! I think I got so used to Jengo just napping if couldn't play with him that now their energy level seems insane! I'm certain SV's only sleep when bored or necessary. They are keeping me on my toes!

It's funny I will hear them tumbling and quietly go check it out and they both look at me like I just busted up the Super Bowl or something.

I've noticed they have "safe spots" like little kids playing tag if they jump on the fridge or a chair that means "safe" hahahahaha.

I am surprised and impressed with their stamina! They do this all day and most of the night. I feel like deprived Jengo for so many years, hahaha!

I know how you feel. Nyah and Kovu play rough. There is always howling, yelling, sounds that we could put on YouTube and credibly claim a Bigfoot is near by. All this is going on while they are a big blob of fur rolling around. Then they get up, do that neck stretchy outie thing with airplane ears, circle like sumo wrestlers, and jump in again or stampede around and then jump in again. I know when Nyah is finished, she must have a serious look and a different growl, because Kovu will literally lay down and stay there while Nyah walks away. Or she gives him the look when he is getting ready to pounce her and he just stops.
