Both issues were communicated to me as soon as she found out so I was very well kept in the loop but we had come to the agreement that we should wait and see if the surgery is even necessary as it was small at the time. But it has gotten much bigger very recently I think during the shipping.

I do believe that the breeder is very reputable and very loving of her kittens, and I am not thinking differently. As for the surgery costs I may have to clarify with her again as I may be misunderstanding. She would have done the surgery prior to having the male leave but it was determined best to do along neuter which would be done after they left her.

Regarding the tail, my vet mentioned if there is bone sticking out then we need to talk surgery but as of now there has been nothing needed or surgery discussed since both the breeders vet and mine they only saw a scab. However I believe the scab fell off this weekend and I now see bone sticking out the middle of her tail and she has not yet gone back to the vet to see if anything needs to be done. We will have to see about that.

There is a health guarantee that says guarantee of health upon pick up of cattery for 72 hours. Again, especially since the breeder is a prominent member of this forum, there is no finger pointing as I think she's a fantastic breeder with great kittens.

I had a similar situation and it healed fine on it's own.. just keep an eye on it and hopefully the skin will grow back and she won't be any worse for wear. The hernia however is the breeder's responsibility to pay for IMO, at least I would expect to pay for it if they were from my program. Obviously it makes sense to have one procedure and take care of both neuter and hernia at the same time with the hernia part covered by the breeder.

Currently I'm just a worried mother hen about them when they play too rough together, like the hernia suddenly getting much bigger or the tail starts bleeding profusely.

I didn't know the skin could grow back over it which would be great... My husband even asked if there's a possibility that part of the tail could grow back because he loves that part on the male kitten (which I said absolutely no way)

I don't want the breeder to feel like anything is being said negatively can if there is no negative feelings. Or want to talk more with the breeder first.

Actually, you can message using tapatalk - I do it all the time. You just need to update your existing version.

I'm sure this will all be worked out...the breeder has done nothing wrong and kept you apprised of the kittens' condition, which is the way it is supposed to be. Small hernias do often resolve, but sometimes they do not. I am sure your breeder will take care of the hernia aspect of the surgery and all will be well.

I understand...but I don't see anything to be worried about and you did as any other buyer would do...posted about your experience. You did not say anything negative about the breeder - quite the opposite, so I don't see the breeder being negatively impacted. Relax...all is good.

Just to let you know- our Saber had the BIGGEST UGLIEST hernia as a baby! In fact, that's why he stayed here- I wanted to get it fixed and my son fell in love with him. Our own vet wanted a huge amount to fix the hernia (great vet- but sometimes, the price is a bit exorbitant). I found another reputable vet who fixed the hernia for around $150. You can see the big old squishy bulge in this pic.
