Wow - that is huge!!! Getting the hernia fixed with neutering makes sense....but the breeder must pay for the hernia aspect and I am sure that will happen.

I meant not negative on anyone's posts but in case it seems like too much information or wrong information could cause a negative view. That's all. You may be able to tell but I'm a WORRIER. for better or for worse and I hate unintentionally causing any hurt feelings.

I don't think you've said anything bad about the breeder, you've told us that the breeder informed you as they knew of the issues and discussed whether to do the surgery on the hernia before or after and I agree with the call on waiting and doing with the neuter. Sometimes small hernias do resolve so the breeder was correct there, I imagine that it was just unlucky that rather than healing up, something moved and the hernia became worse. It's something to monitor and likely something to move up his neuter rather than wait on that...

You said something about not having a vet you like, that is very very important! You need to be able to trust a vet with your precious babies...

Personally, If it were me, just knowing the breeder is on this forum, I wouldn't worry about everything working out. I've never seen anything to even suspect that the breeders here weren't above board. I wish I would have found this place before I adopted Echo. I would never give him up, but I would have been much better informed and a better understanding of what I was getting into. I may have had a second thought, but probably wouldn't have changed my decision. But as I have said in the past, he's here, we love him and even though it can be discouraging at times, he's not going anywhere.

It is okay guys, as these kittens are MY kittens. I am not offended - I try to deal with things that come up .

I did agree to cover costs of the kitten's hernia repair, provided that they find a fair price. Some vets were going to charge them $500 which I know full well is not right for such a benign surgery. Too many vets prey on new clients.

In hind site, I should have had it repaired here but I knew there were be a delay and recovery time and they were Sooo excited to have them come home as planned. My vet does not do early spays and neuters so he would still have to be neutered at a later date.

As for the tail, that was a complete surprise. I found the tip days after they were flown out. Even my vet thought it could be just a scab. I put the tip in a baggy and am waiting for a confirmation of what I found is actually a tail tip and not just a hunk of hair.

These things do happen and like with horses "if it can happen, it will happen." You have to roll with the punches sometimes.

To say the kitten have "health issues" is not exactly the best definition in this case.

Thanks Laura. We all know each other on the forum, which makes it much easier for the buyer to feel comfortable in purchasing a kitten from a breeder here. Things happen and this is a prime example. HappyS is thrilled with the breeder and her kittens and they will work it out - all the way it is supposed to be
