usually, most breeder will not send the paperwork till alterations have been preformed. It's a common stipulation of most savannah contracts, that tica certification will not be forthcoming till the cats have been altered.

I thought that was usually just for the females since the males are sterile. I will go ahead and email Holly a copy of the vet invoice showing he was neutered, maybe it will help get a response.

I received Shango's TICA registration paperwork from Holly about a week ago. I'm going to finish filling out the blue slip and get it sent in to TICA this week. Any recommendation on getting additional pedigrees? I was thinking about adding a 3 generation pedigree or the 5.

When the cat isn't going to be used for breeding or showing, is than any reason to get the vertical pedigree report or the progeny report? The blue slip says a vertical pedigree report is a detailed record of the colors on the registered littermates of your cat and a progeny report is a detailed record listing the offspring of your cat. Can't really think of any reason to get this for a "pet"....although I'm pretty sure I'm Shango's pet lol!

Purrsonaly, TICA registration has been at the bottom of the list of, things that need to be done!! I may or may not register them. Since they are my kids & not show cats or breeders, don't feel motivated to bother.

I think that mostly the reason you as pet owner might order the pedigree is curiosity... if I were to do that I'd go for the 5 generation versus the 3 generation just for the detail.

The reason you might go ahead and register though is more than that. Papers are one of the ways you know you got what you paid for, but in some locations may keep your cat safe. The laws change in your state or county and you might need to prove the generation or breed of your cat. And (not that anyone thinks it might happen to them) if ever your cat needs to be rehomed, it is proof of breed for a rescue group.

There is no reason to pay for a pedigree or progeny report on a pet except to satisfy your own personal interest, but they are fun to have and peruse - it can sometimes be quite an eye opener to see the cats and lines behind your baby.

I believe Shango is an F2 male? Which means no offspring so no point in a progeny report.

I recommend the pedigree to prove your cat is the generation you have in the unlikely event you have to move to an area where there are restrictions. All it takes is one wack job to start complaining........

Correct Just wanted to make sure I was understanding that right. Definitely no need to pay for the progeny report.

Thanks! I'm going to register just so I have proof of what he is. Luckily CO isn't strict with their laws on hybrids, but figured just in case the laws ever change I'll be one step ahead. I think I'm also going to get the 5 generation pedigree just for my knowledge/curiosity.

I ordered the 5 generation pedigree on both of my Savannahs. It was very interesting to see that Tink was related to Rascaldad's "Savannah". Their mothers were sisters from the same litter. For those that do not know,we are brother and sister living in Illinois and Florida.
