Dexter (F6) is 5 months old. The vet doesn't want to do his snip before 6 months and it's scheduled for June 15. Lately his meows have been getting yeowly-er (and more frequent), and his pee is smelling much stronger. I feel like I'm smelling pee in other places other than his litter but I haven't found puddles and I haven't caught him peeing. Could he be spraying? Is he maturing early? Should I consider pushing up his neuter or just waiting for the scheduled date? I'm terrified that he's spraying (or will start) and it's too late!

Time to Neuter?

Sounds like he is there. It is ok to neuter them before 6 mos. My boy was done at 13 weeks. But do get more advise from the various breeders here. 
Get him neutered. If your current vet won't do it, find another vet.

The best thing you can do is find a vet that will neuter him asap. MOST male cats do stop spraying after neuter, I've had horribly smelly males that once neutered and given a couple months were great so this kitten at his age should settle quickly.
What you need to do is be sure to clean up any pee outside the litterbox with a GOOD enzyme cleaner, something like Anti Icky Poo or Unique Distributors Odor Eliminator. imho Nature's Miracle is weak and ineffective and if any trace of odor remains then you run the risk of them continuing to mark in that spot. So worth cleaning right the first time!
If you are smelling pee but can't find it, invest in a good "black light" flashlight, you can find plenty of options on Amazon. Then go over your house at night with lights off and you will find anywhere he's chosen. Good luck!

There is a very good chance he will stop when neutered, if he has started.
Yep, you're boy is definitely maturing, and no it's not early - many males mature at five months of age, some even at four months. It can be more difficult to get him to stop spraying once he has started, but as mentioned above, if you thoroughly clean the areas where he has gone and removed all traces of urine, your chances are much better. Be sure to get a good black light as some of these can be as ineffective as many of the urine cleaners.
