timeout for "bad"behaviour?

coco

Savannah Super Cat
I have given her 20 min timeouts in the bathroom
where she haves her food and litterbox as well as a bed
and a toy.what do you guys think about this?
is it too much of a "punishment"?

I want to add that shes calm and loving when we let her
out again.

he he thats not a punishment at all, its a 20 minute luxury holiday in her eyes.... food litterbox and toys :)

but from your post i can tell your a really caring SV owner so she's lucky to have your as her owner but you may need to be a little firmer on this one

My F1 went thru a phase of stalking me and attacking me, i started with the time out thing, didnt work, she just treated it as a little bit of a playtime in the bathroom and it didn't tackle the problem ( in her eyes )

what did work was scruffing her or grabbing her and being firm and putting her in her crate for 5 mins ( more like how you would train a dog), she seemed to respect that i was standing up to her and that i was stronger and stopped the attacks pretty much straight away. On top of that i used gatoraide bottles to spray her with if she pounced on me, again with a lot of success. All advice i got on here and it worked a treat, she had been doing it for 3 weeks or so and i fixed it in 3 or 4 days, however if it carried on and became a habit it would have been a huge problem........ especially with visitors

oh and after a few months of ownership i now realize they do understand commands, on the odd occasion she steals or attacks etc..... i shout NO and she stops whatever naught activity she's doing so maybe start using command words with her early on
