Toys for bored Savannah

Marilyn Krieger seriously frowns upon laser toys, says they frustrate cats because they can't be caught. I personally don't buy into that theory - as long as you don't use a laser exclusively and allow your cat(s) to play with something that can be caught from time to time I don't think it's an issue.
I agree.with you Patti....

They are fine as long as you don't aim it at their eyes.

One game that Rafiki loves is to hide under a large sheet of dunnage (brown paper that acts like filler when you get a package) while we aim the laser on top. She attacks the spot from underneath and hits that paper like linebacker! Its even more fun when Jammu attacks the dot from above and Rafiki from below!
Oh yes! That's what I remember hearing. I remembered something about them, just couldn't remember what. Thanks!

Lasers that are readily available are harmless. Just don't aim at the eyes. Although they will not damage the eyes, they can cause temporary blindness, like seeing a bright light and then being in the dark. Takes a while for things to stabilize and return to normal. During which time a frightened animal could harm themselves.
But my cats will chase the red bug all night long.
Thank you! I do remember that now. Sometimes memory needs a jolt!

thanks guys, I forgot to check back. he has cat friends, but he is a bit of a scardy cat and even though he can cause the most damage he backs down from both. Not long after I got him, I took in another adult large cat and they like each other, sometimes semi play chase each other but not much. He is 5.5 years old now. New guy the vet guessed is about 3 years old, he is even bigger than Zeus and obv some kind of maine coon mix. They both are scared of my tiny 16 year old female cat that would love cuddle with either but that's not happening. she is queen, lol. he does nothing for the lazer now. that feather da bird thing is still working (gave in bought another one and found new high hiding spot for it). he is loving his outdoor walk time so that is helping with exercise and keeping him entertained.

Glad to hear that he is enjoying his walks.
Our guys have a toy drawer and two two baskets. Each week, two of the three are available. I'm also not above admitting that I spend about $20 per week on toys. Better the toys than the furniture. . .
We buy a bit of everything. We take D to the pet store, and let him pick things out, and I buy things I think Jarvis and Mickey would like.
Jarvis' favorites, though, are a couple of soft balls that our foster kitten LeeLoo used to love to play with. Jarvis and LeeLoo were only in the same house for about a week, and always with a door between them, but he loves those best. (LeeLoo resides in NYC with Michael's aunt.)

ok, now new issue that I'm in serious need of a solution. taking f3 savannah on walks, I researched like crazy, got jackets from mynwood that are great but as Zeus is getting more and more comfortable outside, he is getting more and more curious to explore and we walk further. sometimes he is just being stuborn, other times he is spooked by something (car, people, a noise) and houdini quickly backs out of jacket with all his strength and can escape.

I'm always there of course, but I'm always in fear he will get loose and bolt. I put it on as tight as I can get it and now try to avoid him turning around so my pulling the leash doesn't help him escape. He loves getting to explore outside and its good for him for exercise since he gets lazy in my small apt.

full body armour? suggestions welcome, thanks

That is scary. To be honest I'm not a good help, Jarvis our F3 only goes outside in the back yard (which is fenced) and has never tried to get out. D does go outside on walks, in a harness (traditional dog style) which does stay on, but I've heard the kitty harnesses are better than the dog harnesses. . .

I've never had a cat escape from the harnesses sold by Joykatz. My F6 and one of my F2s is easy to handle if they get spooked. Atticus is still learning to be brave so I take a lightweight carrier with me and put him in it if he starts to get spooked. Actually, he voluntarily jumps in it. That's good for short walks. For long walks, I take the pet stroller and he'll get in when he's spooked. No way am I carrying a baby moose a long distance in a carrier. It's not as much fun to take along a stroller or carrier but it brings me peace of mind.

You can get a harness instead of a walking jacket...And joykatz has Savannah jackets down part as Deborah has said
