Hi everyone! - Just an update. I wanted to say thank you. I was a very trying time, and this community was very supportive. Unfortunately Sasha died a couple months ago. She had congenital renal disease. The breeder replaced her with a boy we call Lo. He is very healthy, except one eye doesn't work.... He is so sweet and loving and playful, and just fit right in. It was crazy to watch the week of quarantine, and his introduction with our other boy Esu. Just wanted to share. In retrospect it explains everything. The boy not letting her eat. Her whole demeanor, and vibe. She was sick, and knew it. They saw high levels of something in the kidneys, but just said to watch. One day it was just too much, and she was too far gone.

I appreciate the breeder gave us a new cat, but with his eye being messed up and how We only had sasha for like 4 months, costing around 4-5k... i feel a little uneasy about the situation, but happy to have a healthy happy companion for our boy who was very distraught when she passed...

Hope all of you are doing well.. Thanks again!

Condolences on the loss of Sasha. That was quite an ordeal for all of you. If it were me, I would not have accepted another cat with any physical/health issues or abnormalities from the breeder, especially considering what you went through with Sasha. If you are sure Lo is healthy and are comfortable with the eye issue, then just enjoy and love him.

I'm glad that you are happy with your new kitten, Lo, like Witchy I would probably not have accepted a kitten with more issues from that same breeder. I hope that the eye is not serious, has it been checked out by a specialist yet? When you say one eye doesn't work, is there a normal eyeball underneath and the eye lid doesn't function? That seems a really rare defect... or was it an injury?

I am sooo sorry to hear about Sasha. It sounds like Lo is filling an empty place in everyone's heart. What sort of eye problem does he have? Is it something that needs treatments or will it just always be that way?

I've read this entire thread and you sound like someone who has taken great pains to not just learn about the animal you've chosen to adopt, but amend your own behavior and lifestyle to suit that animal. In my opinion you seem better suited to caring for Savannah's now than the breeder you got them from, and I not only think you should out them to the community, but have a responsibility to.

It REALLY sounds like the breeder is super sketchy. You said they were feeding their cats Friskies? That's basically Mcdonalds for cats - pure garbage. They didn't do any flea treatment and so sold you cats with fleas, they sold you a cat that was clearly not socialized well and didn't give you any advice on how to best quarantine them (separately since they weren't exactly raised together with different mothers, just for starters..) also one was so ill that she eventually died. THEN they replace your loss with yet another cat with an injury and/or other unknown health issue. Good grief!

Breeders like that need to be held accountable. I really think you should get a full refund. Not saying you will or even are legally entitled to one, I have no idea, but for everything you've done, and had to go through, you certainly deserve one.

Hi everyone! Thank you again for all the support. Lo Is very healthy, his one eye simply doesn't work apparently, but i think it does.. You wouldn't know by how aware he is. Already filling up my water cup on command, and not... Doh.... lol Yes Morgan, thank you. It was a whirl wind. I definitely don't ever want to speak to those breeders again. It was as if everything that could have gone wrong did. And now I am clear that it was not my fault. Which is nice. I definitely feel more clear about where the lines are, and ya. You compel me to share who they are with how you level that. I don't make much money, and that whole ordeal cost me thousands. I don't think they should profit from it at a minimum. I'm too passive it seems, but this whole thing was wrong. Even if they did replace him. It was with another defective cat. Who I love dearly and has absolutely filled that empty place. But still.

Jua Ini...... If you feel this is inappropriate or for any reason let me know, take this post down, whatever.

They are an active member here and in the community, so I have been reluctant to say...

I forget the particulars on the eye, it is underdeveloped. Wont be an issue in the future. The breeder said it was a recent development, that they had been putting stuff on it. It is congenital, had been there since birth, or must have been, and they were lying, or clueless or both........

So sorry to hear about Sasha, I know from experience how hard losing a kitten is. I hope Lo lives a long healthy life. Your avatar pic of Lo is adorable

Did you have his eye checked out by your vet or are you just taking the breeders word on it that it won't be an issue in the future?

As SavannahLuv says, I hope that it is the vet's opinion that the eye will not be an issue in the future. I'm sure that he does fine with one functional eye, there's cats out there that lose an eye and do great, just like humans. I think you might just expect their depth perception to be a little "off".. maybe he will be a little more klutzy than the average Savannah (although they are pretty clumsy too! LOL!) or he just might be more careful about jumps etc to allow for this. Cats are amazing in adapting to their circumstances!

I hope that that is an end to your issues with your cats and you can just enjoy them now! I don't know what Paige's feelings are on naming the breeder but I feel that you have been pretty fair in your description of the situation and have merely shared what has happened. You have acknowledged that they did replace Sasha, even if it seems unfair to replace with a kitten that has a known defect.
