I really don't want to put this on Social Media, but I guess he chooses his victims wisely. So here goes: I got chatting to Karl Stather in about March 2015, in respect of buying a kitten from either Layla or Isis F3 kittens. We spoke a lot on the phone regarding the kittens, when they did get pregnant he asked for a deposit of £300 , which was normal, so I paid that. He put me in touch with other groups of Savannah owners on Facebook. I wasn't used to Facebook and this was the first time I had used it. I met Andrea Cowling about this time , she was admin on his fanatics group on FB. I believe at this time he was having problems with other breeders, about the health of the kittens he had sold to them, and there were various discussions going on Facebook mentors groups and Karl was asking Andrea and me to defend him. I did not really know the people involved but I tried to defend him on what little I knew about his situation. I can remember this carrying on for some time and right up to the time that his F2's were about to have kittens. He rang me up several times because he was stressed out with the situation (re other breeders) and not being able to cope at home. He asked for more money as he could not afford to feed his cats and kittens. I gave him more money as it would come off the price of the kitten I was having from him. He was also stressed out by a kitten he had bought as a stud (Jengo) He had been born November 2014, he said he was not working for him, i.e. successfully mating with his queens, and it was stressing him out (I hadn't realised that Jengo was very young at this time). It was now May/June 2015 and Layla's and Isis kittens had been born. Karl was getting so stressed now the kittens were born which is why he was phoning and asking me each day would I have Jengo. He also at this point asked if I could lend him more money (£750) as he could not afford to feed the kittens. I reluctantly agreed and sent him some money which he asked me to deposit into his daughters account which I never received a receipt for. He also asked Andrea Cowling to have Jengo as we were the only ones he trusted to have him. Andrea lived a long way from us, so after much pushing me to have Jengo I finally agreed. I had a litter of six kittens at the time and I was not happy about taking on Jengo at all. I didn't have an outdoor enclosure at my home, all the cats were inside the house, so it was a big ask to take Jengo on but I said I could manage for a couple of weeks whilst he sorted himself out with his litters and his stress. I was meant to be having one of the kittens from his litters so the money I had lent him would come off the price. I made the trip up to York to a) to home take Jengo and b) see the kittens and choose one. Having arrived in York (a 3 hour journey) I was a little surprised at how small his house was. The rear yard had a covered area and an uncovered area for the cats but no heating or adequate housing for them to shelter. I went into the house which comprised of a small kitchen and lounge area. This seemed appropriate for one person, there was little work surface area in the kitchen for food preparation and I wondered how he kept the food preparations separate for the cats and himself and his daughter. I noticed a crate in the kitchen with a dirty duvet cover thrown over it (I returned home with this cover and gave it a good wash) the cat inside was crying and sounded stressed (I didn't realise at first that this was in fact Jengo).
We then went upstairs to the bedroom where the kittens were kept. There were two litters, I didn't see any feeding bowls just raw mince and blood on the carpet with a wet towel at the door edge to stop the kittens getting anything. I wasn't very happy about seeing this, the kittens looked about 2/3 weeks old and there was raw mince and raw half eaten chicks scattered around the carpet and blood. Very difficult to clean up I imagine. He did ask me to put something on my hands (I already had my hand sanitizer on and with me) but he gave me something awful to wash my hands in (like a watered down dettol bottle) I wouldn't have liked to use his toilet. My friend was with me all through this so he did see the shock in my face all the time we were there. I found outside to be no different. When I eventually took Jengo, after he had bullied me into having photographs taken with his Savannah cats Omar and Bettyboo which he made me post . and he wanted me to write a glowing testament to how clean and healthy the environment his kittens were raised in. However, the reality was that the outside areas had part eaten chicks left lying around and also cat faeces that hadn't been cleaned up looked like for days. When I got Jengo home I put him into a large room on his own as I had my six kittens and their mum and dad to think of. After a few days Jengo started to settle and I was able to get closer and examine him, this was when I discovered that he was suffering from ill health with signs of stress causing some loss of fur around his neck. I booked him into see my vet for a check up and to find the extent of his illness. In all there were four consultations at the vets to get Jengo back to full health and Karl had agreed to cover the vet bill and deduct this from the price of the kitten I was going to have. However, after having to nurse Jengo I decided that I would not go ahead with the purchase of a kitten from Karl as I was concerned that any kitten would not be free of health issues. I then faced the problem of telling Karl and getting the deposit, other monies lent and Jengo's vet bill repaid. At this time I was moving home and I had further problems with Jengo in that he would not integrate with my existing cats and I had to keep him separate and spend time with him to keep him company. Karl, in the meantime, decided that he no longer wanted Jengo back and he hadn't made any attempt to repay the money he owed me. I was then faced with the dilemma of re-homing Jengo as my cats would not accept him. So I now faced another struggle with Karl to get hold of Jengo's vaccination record and TICA papers. Karl did send these through after several months of effort but he still hadn't repaid any money to me. I was then able to advertise Jengo and was fortunate enough to be contacted by a couple after a Savannah cat along the lines of Jengo. They visited and took a shine to Jengo and agreed they wanted him, so I sold him at a loss and they took Jengo away, this was December 2015. Jengo was still entire and I did explain this to the new owners and that he would likely spray and they would need to get him neutered (Karl would not agree to have Jengo neutered as he said he still wanted to use him, if he proved himself) After a couple of weeks they contacted me to ask if to ask if I would take Jengo back as he was spraying indiscriminately around their house and they could no longer tolerate this and the smell. I reluctantly agreed to take Jengo back but on the proviso that they would not get a refund until I found another suitable home for Jengo. After another few weeks I was in contact with a breeder that was interested in Jengo and after visiting and seeing Jengo agreed to take him on. He has since been a very happy cat and has fathered several litters, so a good outcome from a difficult start to his life.
On October 2016 I had to contact the Police regarding Karl Stather, after asking for my deposit and expenses back re-Jengo.
I have had a lot of abusive texts and a barrage of phone calls through the night and early hours of the morning. In the end I had to report this to the police and they recorded 25 calls in one night/morning, whilst he was sending his vile texts. I live alone and this abuse is very scary.
This was something I did not want to do ,but the threatening behaviour and bullying from Karl Stather got too much after asking for my deposit and expenses back re-Jengo and I had to contact the Police regarding Karl Stather.
I have posted evidence of threats by text , police reports and money transactions from my account below, I will be sending, and uploading evidence of threats as my reports are not uploading,
