We have 3 Savannah cats and 2 DSH rescue cats and during the day we let our DSH cats outside and bring them inside at night and last Wednesday my wife forgot to let Blackie in and Thursday morning Blackie came in and our F2 Casey started growling and hissing and making sounds I never heard before at Blackie, at first I thought Casey was sick because he would not settle down and he has never had a problem with the other cats, finally I put Casey outside in his enclosure and he settled down but that evening I let him in and he was worse so I put him back outdoors with a heated cat mat for the night and called his breeder, Casey wanted in about 1 am and layed down on my bed for the night still hisssy even at me but it was all show, I talked to Casey's breeder and she said Blackie must have rolled or rubbed on something that changed his scent and Casey got upset by the new scent in the house, fortunately Casey never went after Blackie, Blackie is old and half Casey's size, my wife cleaned up Blackie's coat with a damp towel a things settled down. anyone else ever have this happen before? My one male cat had to spend the day at the vets for shots and to be monitored. When I brought him home my female cat was super aggressive towards him, he didnt understand why, kept going up to her to cuddle and she would attack him. I wrapped him in one of my shirts I had worn the day before and after a bit it was like it never happened.

I think your breeder is right - Blackie must have brought in a strange scent that Casey did not like. As long as bathing him took care of the problem I wouldn't worry about it.
