Walking Jacket

We have a local pet store here that had puppy harnesses for small dogs and that is what I currently use for my cats. If she is able to get out of it at home, you wouldn't want her to be able to do it outside. With mine when I trained mine, they flopped down, they don't understand what it is, that is normal. For me, when they started that, Simba also stopped flopping to watch a bird out the window. I took him outside and he was so distracted by the outside and what he saw, he forgot all about his harness and that worked for Nala as well.

I gave Zeddie treats to distract her from what she is wearing and give it a good association. Now she lets me put all kinds of embarrassing things on her

Over the years, I've found the same thing. Because I get all my cats used to wearing walking jackets it makes it easier to be able to put all sorts of costumes on them for halloween, Christmas, any other excuse :)

When we first picked up Sofia from the breeder, she put on a walking jacket to show us how it was suppoed to fit. Sofia went NUTS and was flopping all over and throwing her body around! So much for flopping over and acting dead. We kept at it and put it on super loose, and then distracted her with toys and treats. Seemed to work! She doesn't mind it at all now and knows that the jacket means going out for an adventure or car ride. We just got a new walking jacket from Lori and Marc on friday and it's super cute! Of course I've attached some pictures :)

I've seen both reactions...the flopping to the side and acting like a landed fish flopping about...and the one that goes insane throwing themselves up and around and running backwards and flipping crazily. In all cases, they calmed down pretty soon and all ended up just fine with the jacket :)

With the joykatz walking jackets, always attach it around the neck first. This will assure that the body strap is up high enough on the torso that their elbows can't slip through. If that doesn't keep it on, as mentioned previously the jacket you have is too large.
