Walking jackets

Thought I'd share some pics of Shango's walking jackets. The SturdiPet jacket has snap button closures.... they seem to work well, but personally I feel more comfortable using the Hyendry double lock jackets, they have velcro & buckles. Once he stops growing, I think I'm going to try a Mynwood jacket next since they are custom made for the cat's measurements. I also had a cute mouse/cheese print jacket from SafetyKatz I had for Kai, but Shango is already too big for it :(

Thanks! He's definitely gotten 100% better at letting me put them on. I think the very 1st time I tried putting a jacket on him, it took almost an hour . It was also very entertaining watching the backflips & flopping around until he got used to wearing it :roflmao: Once he realized jacket = outside, things wen't much smoother ;)

Very nice jacket! But it doesn't look like it's going to keep him too warm in the snow!!

It's longer & faux fur on both sides so it's probably warmer than his other jackets, but definitely not snow proof. He doesn't seem to be cold & isn't happy to go inside so soon. I'm cold within 20-30 minutes so his walks are much shorter now. How long can they safely be outside in the snow? I don't want him to get sick or frost bite or anything so I don't like keeping him out for long. I figured if I see him shiver, we'll immediately go back inside.

I think if the cold is getting to you, it's getting to him too, so would not keep him out longer than is comfortable for yourself. I would mostly be concerned about frostbite on his paws.

That was my concern as well. I guess he'll just have to be happy with 15-30 minute walks this winter. I think he'd stay out playing in the snow until he turned into an icicle if I let him, so I think I'll definitely have to be in charge of deciding when it's time to go back inside where it's warm.

My mom uses musher's paws to put on her Yorkie's paws in the winter time. It's a wax you rub on their paws to help protect from the ice. Maybe I'll try putting some on Shango's paws (if he lets me) and see if it helps any. I can already guarantee he will never let me put boots or pet socks on his paws
