What to do???

I purchased a Savannah kitten for 2200. When I received the kitten a 8 week young . I was very surprised as this kitten looked very small to me. So I took her home and she would not use the litter nor clean herself. I spent 2 weeks working with her. I bought 4 different kinds of litter 3 different boxes and I even bought special spray from the vet. Made lots of calls to the vet as well. I also purchased a huge dog kennel and bought her a raised bed .They told me this is behavioural if it is peeing and pooping on everything . Mentioned to the breeder I didn't k ow what else to do. She asked me to return the cat to her and she would sell it in a timely manner. Well I have looked at her FB page and other pages she belongs to she hasn't been advertising her, so I called her on it. No answer back. So I replied .... Court? Then she blocked me from FB and so on. She asked me to have my lawyer serve her with papers. Meanwhile throughout this whole experience she has been trying to bully me. I am out 2200 and a cat. Not to mention ferry rides back and forth, gas and all of the supplies I bought. My 4 year old is heart broken too. We were goi g to use that money to get another kitten , she asks me everyday :(

First, no reputable breeder would let a kitten go at 8 wks of age. Much too young to be separated from sibs and mother, hadn't received proper socialization or vaccinations. Do you have a purchase contract that stipulated terms and conditions for return of the cat? If you returned the cat, what did you expect in return -- a refund, another cat? If you did not have a contract or the contract did not cover this situation, you may have to take her to small claims court or just settle for losing your money. If you're interested in another kitten, see our list of member breeders. All of them are reputable.

I agree with Deborah - not only was this kitten too young socially but obviously she had not been appropriately potty trained as well. She is also correct that everything pretty much rides on what the contract says, but even if everything is spelled out in the contract, unfortunately contracts are broken every day and unless you are willing to put forth the effort and cost to take her to small claims court you are likely out the $2200.

As comes up every time someone is disappointed with a kitten purchased, the contract is VERY very important!

What did the contract say when dealing with a return? Or did you get something in writing (even an email) dealing with the terms of return and repayment?

I really do understand that when buying a pet one might lead with the heart, but then it is hard to then turn around and demand business when up until then no attention was paid to it. This may be a harsh life lesson if there is no contract terms to attempt to enforce in small claims court :-(

This whole story makes me cry. Such a gorgeous kitten. Tis a crime that you received her so young. She needs to be in quarantine probably for a month. She needs her own room, food, bed, water, litter box, floor where a stray pee or pooh, doesn't cause damage, and easy to clean.

What she really, really needs, is constant love, devotion and understanding to see her through this traumatic time.!!!! She is scared, torn from all she knew, way to soon. If one had the space and time, to properly care, train and bond with this precious girl, one would likely end up with a spectacular companion.

I did have her quarantine ! I tried every trick posted on line, I tried every kind of litter and gave her lots of her own space and the same time giving her a ton of love she seemed extremely happy with us and lived to cuddle me every chance she could. Her favorite place was to sleep under my covers. If she had been properly trained she would be with me now. The vet and all other breeders said I did all I could and the breeder may have better luck retraining her around other cats . Anyways it seems lonely without her. And yes we will be going to court. All the best
