When does the kitten phase end?

I also had the early morning pounce problem with my kitten Max. He would take a flying leap onto me/other cats/bed. This behavior lasted until he was a year and half. I would get up and put him in the cat room and close the door. He rarely does it now.

My only other suggestion would be to take your kitten out for walks. My guys love it and it helps take their activity level down a notch.
Enjoy!

I am sure each cat is different and some will enjoy quiet time more than others. A studio apartment has to be challenging to savannah-proof. It took a lot of duct tape, drill and screws, and museum putty to keep things from getting knocked over the first few months. Does she have safe places to climb to? If not think about providing vertical space for her.

In the past month my 9 month old F2 female is finally calming a bit and only spends a few hours playing parkour and Indianapolis Cathundred running around the house in a frenzy bouncing off the walls instead of all day and night. She will actually sit quietly by the window sometimes and I have now actually seen her with her eyes closed.

My 9 month old F3 male on the other hand seems to be increasing his activity and mischief levels as he grows.

They keep themselves occupied most nights, but occasionally my back and legs are the place to wrestle and stomp. No matter how hard I play with them before bed, no matter how much food I give them, they rest for about 15 minutes and then have their own play session which they would like me to join.

Are you home with her during the day? If not she may be napping all day and ready to play all night.

Hmmm, when do they calm down??? well my experience is when the are older the 5 years or so, Just can't say, cause I just don't know. my 5.5 year old F3's act as outrageous as my 9 month old F2's.!!!! Only difference is my 5 year olds, don't knock as much stuff over as do the 9 month olds.!!!

So it's like a 30% less breakage once they mature, but....,, the breakage can be of a more devastating occurrence, once mature. Seems the can destroy things much more thoroughly the bigger they get. Knocked over candles and chewed up items, yeah that's a kitten, destroyed panty, torn out water lines, clothes closet destruction, yeah, that's a mature Savannah fur sure.!!!:roflmao:

We plan to get her a playmate once we move into a bigger apartment next year.
This will be the longer term partial solution. Up to a point. Now you have two energetic cats. But a lot of the energy is concentrated amongst each other. You are still doomed.
Congratulations and welcome. Accept your servant role. Resistance is futile.
Many of us are victimized by these spotted wonders with their heavy paws marching at night across our bodies. It's all part of the domination thing they do. These cats are in a league of their own. People who do not have these cats think we are pulling a great internet scam story. Now you know by first hand experience.
The good news is, it will be an exhilarating part of your life.(y)

As the others here have stated, play with her until she is exhausted. I would play with Rafiki until she was panting and only then was she not a complete pain in the butt when we wanted to go to sleep.

Also, be very careful about how you give attention. They will quickly learn your triggers. Rafiki figured out that plucking the tissues out of the kleenix box drives me nuts so she will cuddle first, then knead bread, then nip at toes, walk all over us putting 110% of her weight onto each little paw and then if none of that works, she will attack the kleenix box knowing that that usually gets me up.
Interesting. Thanks for the advice. I have noticed that when she wants to get into something (dishwasher, a drawer, the fridge, etc) and I remove her and tell her no, all she wants to do is get back in and will yell at me until something else catches her attention. I guess she knows my trigger with that one!

That's good to know that he eventually stopped doing superman leaps onto you and the other cats haha.

I do notice that taking her outside has a calming effect on her and any outing wipes her out. Thanks for the advice!

Yes, we're already feeling that pain! One glass lamp already gone. R.I.P. Yes, she has a 6 ft. luxury cat tree. Even has a hammock. My gal and I are jealous.

Haha! That is hilarious! We're living that now. Glad to know that she's calmed down.

Hmmmm... Wondering if it's a gender/hormonal thing?

Wow! I guess we should feel blessed because we do usually get a good 3 hours of sleep out of her after playing. But there are some nights that I think she's done for and then she gets that extra burst of energy.

Yes, that's the main issue. She's home by herself all day sleeping mostly I'm sure and watching "made for cat" videos on youtube on the 52". She gets a lot of play time at night though....probably still not enough..

Thank you so much for sharing your story!
