And his fur is so silky soft, softer too than any cat I have petted.

Topic hijack time. Was it soft as a kitten? My Bengals have "silky smooth" coats, but my F2 SV kitten doesn't seem to. He does still look like he's in his fuzzies - so I'm curious if the texture will change.

Anyone else - especially those with early generation SV's: is your cat's fur "unnaturally soft"?

seems like the outcrosses are what makes the coat of a Savannah feel soft and silky or coarse (more like a serval). My F6 boy, Taj, has a soft coat and my F4 girl, Zuri has a coarse coat...

The Savannah's coat should feel slightly coarse and lack resilience, very soft and silky coats come from the outcrosses.

Servals have course coats anyways, and a course coat texture is more desirable in the SV than a soft silky coat it.

Xumi's a marble, and her fur has two different textures. The black is smooth and glossy, and the silver is slightly rougher, and therefore thicker. When I pet her, it's like running my hand over a high/low pattern rug. Even though she's 25% maine coone, she doesn't shed much at all.

Yes, the black fur should be softer than the background... apparently the black is when the hair is packed with pigment so that changes the texture... making my solid black boy Baz very lush to the feel
