helfinger IMHO: Anyone asking if "I" would make a good owner has only to look in the mirror for the answer; "neat freaks" are great people but I worry for them with a Savannah because even shy, quiet Mojo makes messes- like opening the fridge, the cupboards, pulling down the curtains, knocking my coffee off the table chasing Tigger... Mojo puts up with me but OWNS MY HUBBY; Eddie is "mine"; he has no problem knocking other kitties off my lap; pushing in between me & my son, hissing at other kitties for his toys..
So would you make a good SLAVE?.

Welcome! I really don't have much advice except my schedule has consistently changed since I brought Zeddie home, and she just rolls with the punches. She has a domestic brother that doesn't play with her much, but she doesn't seem to be unhappy.

I think that your work schedule is doable, although if you are considering an early generation Savannah (F1-F3) you might find they are a bit more likely to get into mischief when you're away. The other variable is the size of your home - if you live in a small apartment a Savannah may get bored easier and quicker than if you have a large home with lots of vertical space. I think a companion is a good option to consider when one works away from the home, and it doesn't need to be another Savannah necessarily, just another active breed of cat.

I think you might as well get two, because I have a very strong feeling you'll end up with another either way. But then you would want to quarantine them separately.

I work 8-12 hours per day during the week, and some weekends, and my husband works 9 hours a day.
We have three happy SV boys, F3 Jarvis, F4 Mickey Blue Eyes, and F5 Diablo.
Do they get into things? Of course. But that is part of the fun of a SV
I for one like the mischief.
I'd much rather have a happy cat than a fancy crystal vase
I think you will be just fine with the right SV.

When I worked full time, I was gone 11 hours every day. I think the cats mostly slept while I was gone. They a turned out fine! Of course I spent a lot of time with them on the weekends.
