Wow! Silver late gen Savannahs vs Maus

The truth of the matter is, the pic of Kovu you posted does display a lot of Mau influence. What you would like to see in a Savannah compared to a Mau is smaller eyes with hooding that are flat on top instead of rounded, bigger ears, wider at the base and closer together on top of the head, a wider nose bridge with puffy nose leather, a narrower and longer face (more triangular than round) and a slimmer body with long legs.

As a rule yes; silvers do have a black tail tip. Unless they are one of the dilute shades (blue, chocolate, cinnamon, lavendar) and silver, then the tail tip will not be black, but a darker shade of the basic coat color. It is what is used to determine whether a cat is indeed a true silver or a dilute silver.
