Yeah if the Editor of the page isn't doing their job I would file a report on it and try to kill the misinformation. Being one of the top dozen or so places visited by people on the Internet, there's a big audience reading the wrong things.

F1s are not the largest, the World's Tallest Cat was an F2.

I like the mention of variability in size within a litter.

So it's 50-50 for me, there's some statements I agree with hence consider accurate, and some that are not.

I'm pleased that this post has sparked such debate from you experts, but shocked that Wikipedia hasn't been examined and criticized/corrected by any of you before this.

An early inquiry to answer: Louie is 59% serval, so, technically a HP F1, but not even close to the highest, which, I would think might be around (100% + 60%)/2 = 80%. Although Louie is a fairly high percentage SV, he still hasn't learned to read, and is not self aware (although when I observe him looking at himself in the mirror, I have to question this:)), so he doesn't recognize Rascaldad's family crest.:rolleyes:

I was hoping for a 30-35 pounder, but now I understand that a more "correct" expectation should be 20-25 pounds, and that the more important thing is how he's proportioned. Thanks to all for the education.

PS: Speaking of correcting things: Why not have the edit function "time-out" after 24 hours, or some other reasonable time? Five minutes is ridiculous!!!

Ok, but I want to give this some thought as to how to introduce the concept and how to collate the results.
I know many of the breeders have information on their breeder sites, which could be used or expanded upon.
I would hope the breeders would contribute as their experience was hard won.
Sunny brought up a good point about science. The concept of getting some research to back up the references has me scratching a hole in my head.
I like this idea of getting PROACTIVE for the breed as opposed to reactive with misinformed media and legislators.

I think Paige has already said that she tried to correct the info but the editor changed it back. I know of other people that have tried the same. This is not a new thought, Louie's Dad... just one tries and fails and it gets put on the back burner again.

Now if you have the enthusiasm to take on this page editor, then go ahead! It seems it takes someone that really is willing to dig their heels in...and many of us are too thinly spread. In addition to my own cats and breeding program, I have a Rescue to run (with a dozen or more cats about to be dumped on us within the week)... as well as my TICA commitments (breed, legislative and feline welfare committees) and right now the Feline Welfare Committee is requiring some attention to create changes in how we run that. Let alone trying to maintain some sort of life outside of cats. I simply don't have the time to sit down and try to work out how to make changes to that Wiki page stick... but would appreciate someone taking on the task and happy to lend any support that I can, and even DO it if someone with more savvy can walk me through how the process works. How does one fight when their edits get changed back to the original?

Was thinking about the references for certain things... there are a number of articles published in Savannahs Illustrated that could be quoted I think....
