i don't have a problem cutting my cats nails but wondering what does the vet or groomer do ? my friend had a big dog they put him in this thing that holds him up and he can't really move is that what happens to the cats also? if not how do they do it ?
Some cats do not like to have their claws trimmed and rather than stress out our cats we have our Vet do it usually at home in their outdoor enclosure at the time of their flea meds are due where they feel comfortable, our Vet uses clipnosis ,https://www.researchgate.net/public...ioral_inhibition_'clipnosis'_in_domestic_cats, note the clips as our Vet gives Casey his first exam at 12 weeks old DSCN0502 (2).JPG

Note the Clamps in Carl's photo, if you are trimming nails by yourself larger chip clips or spring clamps are great to scruff your cat.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to provide suggestions! I'm going to look into what a groomer will charge to trim his claws. My vet charges $20 per trim. I actually bought a grooming bag to try and do it myself but that did not workout. Zee Zee went crazy and was really mad at me after. Also, he was neutered last week and there was no change in his energy level. He was bouncing off the walls the day I brought him home the day of the procedure.

That's very typical of a neuter, most times it never phases the cat/kitten.

Ha! While the anecdotal information is widespread, I have never seen anything that would suggest neutering tapping down energy is reality.

I trim Loki's nails every other week since he was brought home. At first I could only trim one paw at a time, but I can usually get all four paws now. I give him lots of treats afterwards for positive reinforcement.

He's also watched my ragdoll have his nails trimmed lots of times. I'm not sure if that helps for him to have that example or not. Trim till they are starting to get upset, then stop and give lots of treats. Try again for the other paws on a different day :)
