Advice on purchasing a Savannah!

Our boy is a digger, but only in his litterbox. For the most part he leaves the plants alone, although the DSHs certainly make up for his lack of interest.

If you read most of the stories about "Savandalism" it usually involves things like toilet paper or paper towels being shredded. In general, I do not find my Savannahs (F1 through F5 in the house) to be destructive in terms of shredding and chewing on things. They DO however, knock things over during bouts of kitty racetrack.

Much of what you read involves their energy and intelligence... not any wish to destroy. Kittens teething might chew though... and then just like all other cat breeds you get individual cats that get up to something unusual.

Thanks Brigette. Didn't want to be facing a great deal of buyer's remorse. I have had many kittens, and am not concerned about some abnormal behavior. Just didn't want to be faced with coming home to a completely wrecked house everyday.

Is that Grumpy cat John?

It's a "she", John ;-)

Savannah kittens are like kittens...on caffeine...with sugar! That's how someone once described them to me. They ARE on the high energy side of kitten-dom, very like Abyssinian kittens can be. But they don't get up to anything that any other kitten might not do, just they have long legs that enable them to get to shelves you might think are out of reach to a normal kitten!

Great! Thanks for the reassurance. They can't get into too many more things then a ferret. We had 3 for yrs and house proofing for them is unreal.
