Are Breeders Just in it for the Money?

Very good point, Shelby, there ARE a number of new breeders that have started in this HOBBY to make a profit...and usually they don't last the distance. I know that our accountant would like us to cut even JUST ONE YEAR! If I were a businesswoman I would have quit years ago.

So saying that, there are a few breeders that manage to survive on the profits of their cattery...very few and likely very specific setups are required. Keeping a small number as house pets that happen to have babies occasionally is not profitable....but a joy when all goes well!
I would be so happy if I could break even just one year!!!

I know it! I was buying a truck load of chicken legs when they went on sale and the cashier said. "Looks like you are having a barbeque!" I said no, they are for my cats.

I still remember getting to meet you Kelly, and getting an introduction to Savannahs in person. There we were, standing in your kitchen, with a couple of your younger cats milling about. You reached into the fridge, took out a chicken leg, and tossed it on the counter. I heard this thump, thump, thump coming down the hall, and then ther was a big blur in front of my face, as your F1 Daisy jumped up to the counter to inhale the chicken! I was speechless. :)

I'd done a lot of research, and looked at a lot of pictures, but nothing compares to seeing them in person for the first time!

Our auto shipment was delayed awhile back by a hurricane, so we spent $$$$ for double supplies. Well, it won't go to waste around here.

Paul, that reminds me of a website offering pretty much that, a rent-a-pet service. It may have been that same scam artist Simon Brodie that launched it. Basically if you thought you were too busy to have a pet but loved animals you could buy in and just share that pet at times convenient to you! Not sure if Savannahs were offered though...
