The Velcro doesn't scare anyone ? I feel like there needs to be a clip lol.. I've seen arie go a little nuts in his harness with a leash and I don't know that I could trust Velcro ....

I use the Joykatz jackets as well and the velcro has never been a problem nor do I worry about it. The biggest thing is the fitment and having proper spacing between the neck strap and the torso strap. With the Joykatz it's always easy just put the next step on first and the torso strap is close enough to the front legs and shoulders that they can't back out.

I thought about reliability of the velcro too, but when well attached, Kilifi has not been able to get out of it. She did get out of a full harness. Little escape artist.

I would never trust a regular harness, far too easy to get out of. As long as you get the walking jacket on snugly the cat will not be able to get out of it. I have some walking jackets that are 10 years old, the velcro has yet to wear out.

Hyendry also has an option on their walking jackets to have the Velcro for ease of putting it on, then a clasp lock that goes on top of that. I think they are called double locks.

My Mynwood jackets use Velcro. Rafiki did manage a halfway escape when she was outgrowing her last jacket but the Velcro was not the issue - it was the overall length that allowed her to get her front leg out. The only issue I have with the Velcro is with my Pixie bob. He has long belly fur so we need to be careful to not get it stuck in the Velcro. The important thing is that the jacket needs to be the correct size to ensure that the belly strap is in the right place and that you keep it tight so that they cannot get their little elbow in there.
