The owners of A1 Savannah also own Centerline firearms and middle man hunts to Africa and in their pictures he is holding a dead caracal with a rifle slung to his back grinning, Trish and maybe Brigitte also have seen the picture, I think the caracal was trapped due to them being nocturnal hunters, I have hunted but I don't shoot something I can't use. The picture is down now but it really pissed me off. Didn't someone here get a kitten from A1 with a free case of ringworm???

If you go to A1s Facebook page, there might still be a discussion there about concerns some people have regarding what they consider a conflict in their business model. I tried to search for A1 here but nothing came up, most likely because they mentioned in threads about general topics.

I think the drama concerning the new owner's other business played out mainly on Facebook on various people's pages (most has been deleted from A1Savannahs' FB page) and Savannah groups....

Yes, cbain, there is a picture circulating of the new owner of A1 grinning while holding up his "trophy" of a dead caracal. It upset many that someone that takes pleasure out of killing for the thrill of it (as opposed to hunting for meat etc) might have control of so many cats descended from a similar exotic cat as well as now owning some Servals.

The last owner, Martin Stucki, told me in person that he ran the cattery as a business and hence made decisions based on that. He said that he knew we all did, and was very surprised I think when Kristine (Gattobello SVs) and I responded that it was an expensive hobby for us and they were our pets.

Given the last owner regarded it purely as business, I would probably assume that is how it was presented to the new owner...as a good business opportunity.

At this point, I think all breeders involved in the community have seen that pic. It was very disheartening to see the joy over the death of an Exotic cat many keep as pets in this country.

I saw the picture as well, mostly posted by breeders on facebook. It's no surprise to me that A1 has been run as a business for some time now.
