That just might be a mosquito bite. Here in northern Illinois, we are having a problem with west nile virus, and it's spread via mosquito's. Bad news is, mosquito repellents DEET, pyrethins, are toxic to cats. Any chance you can keep the cat in for a few days and see if it stops?

They are always gone by morning. So they probably are some kind of bite. They don’t seem to bother her. She does spend a lot of time down on the woodpile while I am working in the garden.
