buying mice for cat

My ragdoll just had the *best* time eating a fly....

(Also grew up with snakes, turtles, salamanders, lizards, worms, caterpillars--at age 3, to get me to walk down the aisle at my uncle's wedding, my grandfather went out and caught a jar of caterpillars and held it at the end of the aisle for me :D and yes there are pictures lol)

People ask me if my Savannahs are "good hunters" and I respond that a moth doesn't live long once it enters our house! Flies too... the only moving things they don't seem to go for are ants...

When mice get in the house Tiger and Zeddie go crazy hunting (which I hate) but my dad always let's the cats at the mice. Bugs are more Zeddie's specialty since she is nimble and she likes snacking in flies, moths, and spiders.
Luckily both cats know the difference between vermin and pets as they leave the parrots alone

I think if an unwanted critter gets in your house, then they're the only ones at fault for their own demise

But I wouldn't bring a critter in for the specific objective of having it killed. That seems rather cruel.

Yeah, I mean we can't share the house with the mice, but I still feel bad because my cats are super mean. Tiger eats their heads
When I was a kid I used to catch the mice we found and beg my mom to let me keep them lol...we always just let them go outside

My F5 boy likes to go outside, and he gets plenty of "hunting" in while in our suburban neighborhood. Spiders, moths, bugs, the unwary baby bunny (that one was very sad)- they are fair game if they are in our yard.
I would steer away from the live mouse/live snake route. Take the kitty outside and it will have just as much fun chasing bugs as it would chasing a mouse. Also, what if god forbid the mouse transmitted a disease to your SV? Even if it was something as simple as a parasite like fleas or mites, that would totally stink.
