Cat,Bat in house

I don't think they ever got to put there paws on it. Lots of flapping around and jumping
and meows and general excitement. The bat was let loose and was doing well. Sort of
a bit pissed off at being handled with heavy gloves while being dumped onto the tree.
This county has only had 6 cases in the last year of infections. Bella will be visiting the
vet this week for her shot and the vet felt that would do. There is no anti-raibies for cats.
But they do have a human vaccine for prevention and I did not know that.

The one other thing I got out of this is the bat is a federally protected critter.
Bats are not that bad so long as they stay out of the house. They can eat all the
mosquitos then can as far as I an concerned.

I am a huge defender of bats. I am not only a crazy cat lady, but bats in the belfry, too ;p Or bat-shit crazy. Either label works, lol.

There is nothing like sitting in our yard during early evening, while a flock of bats swoop above, catching thousands of mosquitoes.

Bats are a vital source of mosquito control. It is true they are a known source of rabies and large numbers of them nesting in an attic can be a health hazard with their guano (bat poop). I think the more people know the good about them, and how to keep them out of our houses, and ourselves and pets safe, the better we can live with them, and them with us in this world.

No....they do not nest in your hair, lol. They do not suck your blood. In fact, South American vampire bats scrape the skin lightly with their teeth, then lap the blood. Their saliva has an anesthetic agent, so people who are "bitten" by them never feel it, usually while sleeping.

And cats do go absolutely nuts when one is in the house! I almost hated to take away their fun when we used to have bats visit us I never wanted a bat to get injured, or one of my cats bitten.

I AM really glad we don't have them stop by and visit us anymore, lol.

Reminds me of the fruit bats in Sydney... they do a summer concert series in the park and people go and set up picnic blankets at the end of the day to listen to opera or the symphony etc... and I remember how cool it was to lie back on the blanket and watch the fruit bats circling in the dusk sky. Really quite beautiful. So I imagine watching your bats in the early evening is really lovely too

But no, I'd not want one in the house and try to run interference between it and the cats...yikes!

Well Friday Bella got to visit the vet Dr Dil. She did very well. Dr Dill made the comment that
most F1,F2 and F3's don't act as calm as Bella is, I must be doing something right. We got home
to a problem with Tetsu and back to the vet on Saturday UTI AGAIN They got a sample to
do a culture on and will let me know what first of the week. Poor kitty. He is back on pain meds.
Not Mokkun not to be out done. Tonight I was giving him is does of laxatone for the hair that he
keeps grooming off his belly and he really likes the stuff. Well he did not finish the bit on the dish.
So I wiped it up with a finger and let him lick it off. No problem tell he started to think this tastes
so good I think I bite off a chunk and run away with it. That was my finger he was chewing on.
I gave him a funny look and said lick don't chew. All this cat fun.

I get to go deal with a Voc Rehab nit-wit in a few hrs.
The same people that screwed things up bad the last time
I had to deal with them.

On the better side Tetsu is feeling better tonight but that is just the pain
meds hiding the problem. I know that they can't rush a culture. Bella
is getting ready to hop into bed and sleep on my legs. Silly cat
