The transition to other proteins is progressing nicely. Jammu goes to the vet tomorrow to have his teeth cleaned and his liver values re-checked. Poor little guy.
  • Jammu now likes beef, quail and rabbit.
  • Rafiki likes chicken, quail and rabbit; and beef as long as the beef is mixed into one of the first 3. I have not managed to get her to eat just beef yet.
I have a decent source for the quail in my local Sprouts market. They recently had all frozen food at 20% off so I stocked up on it. I will have to make a batch that is strictly ground and see how they do. Trying to filet those tiny quail breasts into chucks may lead to madness. I also need to figure out a way to add more fat to it. The last batch had an egg yolk per lb and it took quite a bit of convincing for them to eat it.

Now that they like rabbit, I need to find a source for it. Hare Today is pretty pricey as you have to buy a decent amount to get the shipping down to something reasonable. I plan on trying Rabbits4u based on Paige's recommendation. I had joined her site on FB but had to wait to see if the picky monsters would like it before contacting her. Having the meat grinder that handles bones is very nice.....but being able to buy it premade would be even nicer!
