Cat trees

Sorry Paige that sounds so frustrating! I am having a hard time picking a cat tree for Keljin since he is my first cat and I have no furniture for him yet. I definitely appreciate your advice, and will avoid Amarkat which is one of the brands I was looking at before reading this.

After seeing everyone's creativity on here, I am thinking of maybe just building something custom too for a better price.. I want something with lots of shelves and hammocks with little distance between levels so that my Ferret can go up and hang out with the cat too.

Keljin is at an age where he is just getting interested in jumping and climbing and seeing where he can go, so I should get working on this soon! In the meantime he is getting into his naughty teens and knocking everything off the counter tops. We shall see how that goes, I will of course share whatever I decide :)

Thanks breheart! I am very disappointed in Armakat. I still have an Armakat tree that I bought about 8 years ago and although the screws are loose, it is still standing. I am donating that one to a no kill shelter and am hoping the shelf for the new one arrives sometime this millennium :)

On a positive note, the company I bought it from, Wayfair, sells many different brands and gave me a full refund on this tree. They were a pleasure to work with...

Looking forward to see what you come up with.

This is the one from e bay, not real tall but solid wood, 3 bolts and it was together. In one picture you can see even the underside of wood is covered, that is really nice even in the house part. It came with the one hammock. Even the old cat who has never had a tree before thiks it is great, she now sleeps on the tallest platform most of the day. His contact info is crabbcat@mchsi.com and He wll build a custom design if he doesn't have something you like. Oh Yea....it does not smell other than slight new carpet odor!

I like this tree! I need a very tall one - at least 80" - if I don't get my shelf soon, I will contact him. Thanks for sharing.

Has anyone had experience with one of these cat trees? They are SO PRICEY but hey, so were our babies right? They deserve only the best :)

I have heard a lot of great things about these cat trees, as far as durability and stability.

We are thinking of building one for Echo. He's big (29 lbs) and most of the houses, he won't fit in. He still wants to hide and I want him to be able to do so if that's what he wants. Any thoughts?

I think Pam may have built one of hers and MK as well...I am sure they will jump in later today...or maybe check with one of the vendors on this thread, such as the one posted where they guy will build one for you?

Yes, that is a big boy and he should definitely be able to hide if he wants.

I think he should be able to do whatever he wants..........except destroy my house or hurt they dogs, either of which he could do if he wanted. Just hope he has no desire to do either.
