Confusing registration codes please help

I think that this is a result of the breeder confusing what is possibly equivalent in a program (if of equal type then a C-registered SV does produce SBT the same as an SBT Savannah would) to what is equivalent in labeling. The cats should be labeled what they are, not what the breeder considers them equal to. Some breeders think that their F4 kittens appear equal to F2s in type, doesn't mean that they can sell them as F2s! LOL! A breeder should be disclosing exactly what the kitten is.

Does your contract promise you a "purebred" or SBT Savannah kitten or is it simply phrased as "Savannah kitten"? I've seen all sorts of contracts and some are very brief and non-descriptive making it harder if you wanted to pursue legal action.

Contract clearly states SBT. When I called her on it she said it was an error and that the F7c is equivalent to an SBT

I'm afraid you've gotten involved with a breeder who is at the least naive and inexperienced, but sounds more like she is either a shyster or just plain stupid (or both) if she doesn't understand the difference between a 'C' Savannahs and an SBT, even after it has been explained to her.

Unfortunately going to court is a painful process and one that does not always get you your desired results, but if you have the time and the means it might be worth it for you, if nothing else then to make her realize that she can't get away with making things up willy-nilly. Please keep us posted on how that goes!

As long as you are unwilling to post her name or the name of the cattery, the only thing you can really do is advise others to do their homework and ask for references...

This is an article I wrote long ago to try to explain all the codes we get in Savannahs. Maybe that will help you. It does point out that a C-registered cat and an SBT cat are in different registries...that TICA has one registry, the Stud Book registry for the "purebred" cats of a breed and the Foundation registry for the cats involved in development of that breed. There is a distinction made by TICA.

I think until we have gone to court it's probably best to refrain from disclosing her name in such a public manner, however if anyone wants details of her cattery they can email me at Courtnay.r30@gmail.com

Oh wow thank you so much, anything that can help me with my claim is greatly appreciated ☺

And... I'm sure you may have considered showing your SBT, which makes things even worse, since now you have a Savannah you cannot show

Oh exactly...it sucks..I posted a bad review on her business page and I posted the whole story on tge Facebook page that recommended her to me. In the end after getting a third party involved she gave me $200.00 of my money back with a message of "if you try that again, I will take u to court and Sue u for slander"...yeah good luck with that it's not slander if it's the truth and I have everything in writing. The third party tried to get me to remove the bad review from her business page, I said no way. Some people
