Dino at the ER

I'm at the hospital now, he ate about an ounce of food for me. They asked me to get an armpit temp on him which was 102 and they generally look for about 100. No IV antibiotics and they are continuing with clavamox until they get a culture. Not sure I agree with that but changing things up ahead getting the culture bak may not make sense in a short window.

He now has a drainage tube, and all the fluid is clear, incision area is pink.

Personally, I don't see that too much harm is done adding a different antibiotic while waiting for the culture results, it won't affect those results and just might have him on the road to recovery sooner...but glad he's well-monitored in the interim <3

Wishing Dino a speedy recovery!! Hopefully you & your wife can get some rest very soon!! I'm sure you will all sleep like babies once you are past this.

Praying for Dino! That it's all over soon. I'm guessing that it's not always pica kitties that get confused. But your right , we try to keep them safe and tempting stuff out of reach. Come on Dino you can do it! Pass it through!

Sorry I didn't post something earlier.

Dino checked out of the hospital earlier this morning. He has a vacuum pump and a drainage tube. After surgery he was on an IV a/b Unasyn which he got a pretty good dose of. I had the convenia conversation, and was pushed off pending the amount of fluid being drained and the culture. Not real happy about it, I get the responsible a/b use , I just think two surgeries in a week suggest a multi fronted attack at the issue.

Dino is doing pretty well, although he is always on high alert when he is in ICU and doesn't get much sleep. Right before I had left last night a beagle rolled in and I knew he was in for a long night.

He has a drain tube attached to a manual vacuum pump, has spent much of the day sleeping and when he was awake he was headed for the litter box or looking forward to us bothering him.
