Do Savannah's really get MAD when they aren't the center of attention??

Many years ago, my brother teased my sister's cat. That night, my brother woke up with that feeling that someone was staring at him. Sure enough, the cat was on the dresser staring right at him. Once they met eyes, the cat proceeded to knock all his stuff off the top of the dresser.

Revenge is sweet, even to a cat!

Peeing in your shoes, "accidently" knocking a favorite and cherished heirloom to the floor, sitting facing away from you with nose held high in the air and a look of hurt indignity while ignoring your pleas for forgiveness...

Cats are very routine oriented, however not a lot of owners create a schedule for their cats, and for the vast majority of time, they will do just fine. However, once you have established a routine, going off it can be quite unsettling to a cat. She may be mad, or she may just be completely thrown off and confused at the sudden change in her schedule. I would simply resume your routine with your walk and play times and I think she will be just fine.

Thanks Patti. Today seems like she is coming around. Still aloof somewhat, but rubbing up against my legs. Still leaving it up to kitty on her terms. When kitty talks and wants a pet, I will be ready. Only when she asks, otherwise SPACE. SPACE. SPACE.........I'm still learning. With the help & support from my savannah family I know I'm learning the correct way.

Yesterday it was raining, very hard mind you. Nailah proceeded to have a panic attack that we weren't going out for her walk. She sat by the door and cried and cried and then would storm through the house at 100mph jumping at every single door knob in the house! Despite her usual grace, she managed to knock over a Britta water jug I had left out all over the kitchen floor, played puffy tailed through it, and with wet paws proceeded to charge back through the house and get little wet paw prints all over every door and door knob.

As far as revenge goes (this is now somewhat hilarious to me), while I was at work late one evening my fiance had a person over who had never dealt with cats, only dogs. My fiance did tell him that savannahs were very "dog like." He proceeded to try to play with Nailah despite her weariness of strangers at first, like she was a dog. I came home to him trying to grab her belly, petting her fur the wrong way, etc. I told him that he is not likely to win her over and to give her time, cats do not like being played with like they are dogs. He did stop "playing" after some insistence from me. The next thing I know, Nailah is at the front door, found his shoes out of ALL the guests, and proceeded to take a large pooh in his shoes. I could not believe what I had seen, I was mortified! Nailah had never had an accident!! It was so obvious she was getting revenge on this stranger to her!! In hind sight, I can not stop laughing at this story.

In a nutshell, yes sometimes they do have little fits when they don't understand why routine has changed (don't we all sometimes) LOL.

I got a really big smile out of your story Rylie. It reminded me of a very similar situation . Only the visitor was staying with me and the cat peed in her suit case . The only thing in the house that she peed on and the only time .
It is amazing sometimes how smart they are : )
