Our Crazy (male) who just turned 10 months old has started howling to get attention from his sissy, howling while pacing, howling while playing, howling for the sake of howling!! Is this puberty???? I may not survive the 330am howling, the 430 am howling (the howling if we put them in their room).. Please say this shall pass??? We have not slept past 330am for awhile now!! Yes we fall asleep at 9pm on the couch, trudge to bed by 11 and then like clockwork, the 330am howl... help!!!!!

This would be a problem for me .. I usualy go to sleep at that time to wake up 5-6 hours later....

Is he neutered yet?
I had a DSH that just loved to walk the perimeter of the house (read... walk through every room in the house like a watchman) all night long letting everybody in the house and neighborhood that he was on patrol, and you had to get past him first. God forbid a raccoon, possum, or transient cat show up at the sliding glass door!! That would require intervention by a human. He never grew out of it. After his passing we buried him on the side of the front porch to continue watching the house.

We had a DSH that would walk through the house howling and dragging something of ours to the interior garage door whenever he thought he was alone. He wanted us to trip on whatever he drug. He also had a knack for finding and dragging out things that he knew we would be needing soon. He drug out a Carnival visor a few days before we were to go on a cruise. He drug out my son's swim medals just before we were leaving to go to a swim meet out of town. Sue

Those are some pretty smart cats!

My DSH girl patrols, too. Always watching out the windows and door for intruders; human or not. She once alerted me to someone sneaking onto our front porch late one night...she was facing the front door, hackles up, growling low...then I heard the (locked) door knob being jiggled. She's a big strong girl, and I wonder what she would have done if that someone had gained entry....

She also LOVES to haul my dirty fuzzy socks around, meowing like she's calling kittens to a fresh kill ;) I know she's got them stashed somewhere, too, since I have about 8 single socks with no mates, lol.

And her brother Crazy !
That was my question - if not, time to take care of this ASAP!
Yes he was neutured and she is spade. After reading some of the posts of the patrolling factor, I realize he is a patroller! But he never howled in the early , early, early am like he does now.

Thank you. If you have read other posts of mine, this is the adopted cat (Grady) that initially did not trust adult males. Eventually my youngest son and I became his best buddies. His passing opened up a void in our house, that was filled with our first Savannah.

"When eating, if your not seated at the table, they will put a paw on your hand or fork and try to direct the fork to their mouth and not your mouth."

I eat sitting on the couch, and Chuju will perch behind me like a vulture and do this until I puch him off the back of the couch. And he WILL come back and try it again.
