Dooley still challenged

Dooley was released on Friday evening, and returned to the emergency room less than 48 hours later.

Early Saturday evening Dooley's respitory rate was 30. A bit high, as Dino's is about 20 and their activity rate was pretty reserved. For good measure, I gave Dino the boot. Dooley's respitory rate was near 50 late evening, so I was sure we were going back to the vet in the morning.

Wake up and now Dooley's respitory rate is 70, and I'm pretty shaken. Throw out my original thought of near an hour drive to get him to the specialists, wanting just to get him on oxygen. Dooley responds very well and his respitory rate drops to 12-15 within 2 hours.

Thinking it's something environmental we opted for him to stay the evening. He'll see the internal medicine specialist and also the cardiologist. Hopefully that will provide some answers.

Massive effort to steam clean the floors, encase all the mattresses/pillows and wash all the bedding with hypoallergenic detergent. Purchased two more air purifiers and I've done everything I can to make things allergy safe if that's the culprit.

That's it for now, and unfortunately I am away from home this week. I'll get the ball rolling and then Dooley will be n good hands with Trish and my sister.

Thanks again for thinking about my special boy and the get well wishes!

Poor Dooley! I am praying for his return to health, and for some answers as to what's causing all of these health issues!!

Cardio doc looks at Dooley this morning, some minor heart shape variants but functioning properly. They will be doing an X-ray and a trach wash as well as he has more broncular congestion than before.

So right now nothing really to report. They are going to put him on a maintenance dose of prednisolone. They will also be doing an allergy panel as well although they believe it's only an outside chance it will turn up anything.
