Dooley still challenged

Dooley continues his recovery, pretty active, hard to keep pinned down.

Not sure what the biopsy will bring nor what to expect.

Dooley seems to be licking near his incision and the skin seems a little pink. I think he's good, just keeping an eye on it.

Opted out of the family vacation, first time in 30 years I'll miss being on the Outer Banks for my Birthday.

I really wish I could trust the boys on their own, that would make things infinitely easier.

Is this someplace that you can't take the boys with you?

I know when I go on Vacation, Elsa goes with me, and really enjoys the trip. An idea to think about!

Traveling with the boys would be a disaster in waiting. Dooley's poops are so stinky from the Lactulose, I'm sure if he dropped a deuce inside a car all occupants would expire in minutes, if not seconds. Also will be 15-20 other friends and family there, with the doors getting opened and closed at minimum of a dozen times per hour, not a safe place for them to be, plus all the new targets for Dooley to chew on.

Dooley had a pretty rough day yesterday. He is now off his pain meds and unfortunately started licking his incision. You all know what that means and Dooley is quite familiar with the e-collar.

Today is the first day that we could see the biopsy results. My guess is it will be later in the week, and I'm anxious to get Dooley on a revised program.

For the moment, we are keeping his food intake on the low side so he doesn't have any issues. Still splitting it up with an hour between courses although we are now back to 3 feedings a day (6 if you count the hour course splits, one with meds the other without).

He did have a better morning, and we have an in the green pollen count day so he gets some open windows. Temperatures in the low 70s, so I'm sure he'll have a great afternoon.

Poor Dooley, having to wear the cone of shame. Hopefully he will lose interest in his incision soon and it can come off...

I feel for you having to wait for those biopsy results, it must be torture...

An update from Dooley's Friday appointment. His incision is pretty much healed up, no longer needs the e-collar. He will remain on the same Med program, and depending on how well he does over the next 30 days we will try to get the amoxicillin out of the equation.

We really didn't discuss the Biopsy results much but the Doctor let me know she had shared the results with one of her colleagues at Cornell, Dr Marnin Forman. We discussed again the raw diet, which we will begin working with Dr Pierson on as well as Denamarin. There wasn't a whole lot of enthusiasm surrounding Denamarin although she said it wouldn't do any harm.

At this point it is believed the issue is at the microvascular level within the liver and not something that would be correctable by surgery. That's the best way I can explain things, and from here our choices are to treat the condition medically.

Hope to have more in the coming days.

John, I am still hoping for a good outcome.

FYI, Denamarin is not prescription only and costs $24 for a 30 count on Amazon. It has helped both my cats. Jammu will remain on it for another 6 weeks or so as only one of his liver values is still elevated. Rafiki will stay on it indefinitely - maybe as much for my peace of mind as anything else.
