How does your vet (and the staff) react to Elsa?

They all love her to death... They think she is the greatest.... When I bring her in everyone comes out to see her... Many times I have her out of the cage (if not to many dogs are out) and they even pet her... She gets a long with all of them... She doesn't even fuss when they take her back to be weighed. They are still calling her the "Miracle Kitty"...

Ziggy, my 13lb leggy F2, is beloved at my vet. He is great with them, even when they take him in back. He even let them clip his nails without protest.

On the other hand, Rosie, my 8lb DSH that died of FIP, was an absolute terror at the vet. X-rays took three people, and they gave up taking her staples out after abdominal surgery. I was able to remove her staples at home while she was lying in the sun--she trusted me to do anything.

Elsa will let them do anything.. Until she sees a needle or syringe.... Then she gets hissy... After the shot, she is back to being nice... but when she even sees a syringe at the vets, it is game over... She does not have to see the needle to know what is coming.

Elsa has good reason, read thread: http://www.savannahcatchat.com/threads/started-good-ended-real-bad.4161/

John.
I just read the thread about Elsa. I had NO idea you almost lost her. I was in tears the whole time. Started with sad ones. Ended with joyful ones. GIVE HER A BIG HUG FOR ME!!! And some good info too. Take lemons and make lemonaid.

My vet does not like Savannahs. I think a lot of it has to do with how fast they move and she prefers big love bugs like Jammu. Dr. Sandy had to do 3 blood draws (1st one Rafiki yanked away, 2nd was good, 3rd was because I forgot that I wanted her tested for Bartonella and we hadn't saved any for that :(). Rafiki growled like you wouldn't believe but never struck or bit. When she had had enough, she just put her paw on the tech's mouth with claws retracted. So even though Dr. Sandy does not like Savannahs overall, she does like Rafiki.

Elsa Growls and Hisses when the needles and or Syringes are out, but never has the claws out.. The Blood Draw by Elsa was an accident, and was not bad.

Mine have never seen needles. At least at MY vet. But they don't like claw clipping. Growl, hiss, yowl you name it. They act like they are being tortured. They are not. Doc is gentle with them. LOVES SVs.

The receptionist for the vet that we are going to seemed to at least know what savannahs are, so I take that as a good sign. Zeddie is Miss Vocal at the vet...she scares everyone

Rafiki made the greeting hiss today for the first time. At least, I think that was what it was - she wasn't agitated at all when she did it.
