Elsa's visit to the Vet... Not so good...

I respect your choice, Kabuki. That's one of the nice things about these forums. We can disagree. I like hearing other opinions. Helps me get a double check on my own.

I think different things are right for different people. Kabuki, I respect your choice not to vaccinate. You know what is best for your kitty.
John, I am really glad Elsa is back to her happy self. That sure is one cute little ball of fur :)

@John Campbell - glad to hear Elsa is back to normal...

I space out my vaccines for my kittens...also for my own cats, I am going to begin to do titers, instead of vaccines, just to see where we are at...it will be interesting to see just how long vaccines last in the body...

Question for the group: When can I do the 1 year booster shot? Jammu is 2 months older than Rafiki.

I have a vet that comes to the house. While her prices for everything is very reasonable, it does cost me something like $50-75 for the house visit itself. So, I was wondering if I could combine them into 1 vet visit for their first boosters or if this would be too late for Jammu or too early for Rafiki. Definitely for the 2 year visit I will be able to combine them into one appointment but I just don't know about this year.

My vet does titers so this may be the only booster that is needed. She recommends Distemper, Rhinotracheitis and Calici; Rabies only if the cat could be exposed to bats or raccoons; and leukemia and bordetella based on geography/lifestyle. I think that Rafiki received the 1st three plus leukemia but I am not sure.

It depends more on their age when they received their last booster. If they received it at the same age, and if they are indoor only cats and not exposed to other cats, I would personally wait the additional two months for Rafiki to reach a year old then vaccinate both of them at the same time. Having said that, I have no data to support the safety of this, only personal experience that some of my cats did not always get their booster exactly one year after the last one, and all have been fine.
